If you live next to an Air Force base that has been there 78 years, what do you expect? No sympathy whatsoever.

I've been hearing what I presume is the F-16s on numerous occasions in Wairarapa, although I haven't managed to actually sight any of them yet.

Bloody NIMBY's. I wonder how long he has lived in Sanson? This was always going to be an issue with Singapore basing jets here. If he thinks it is bad with 6 x F-16s based at Ohakea, wait until there are 24 x F-15s flying day and night! It will be just like the good old days prior to Dec 2001 :+) He had better move or get used to it.

At least 95% of the comments on that article say the same thing, live next to an air force base and then complain about noise, go away. Good to see.

The bit about changing the flight paths was what amused me. My Tooley is obviously missing a few tools from the tool box in his head.

The SAF F-16 exercise has allowed Winstons revitalised defence force to begin training of the recently reformed Dads Army Observer Corps

Quoting Gerry at the start of this thread between 12 and 24 jets. But I doubt Ohakea's existing facilities and its airspace could cope with 24 jets with everything else that is based there these days (plus in the future P-8s). My money is on flying training going to Woodbourne if the Singapore deal happens.

I'd almost consider moving down there just for the sights and sounds if they were there long term and in bigger numbers!

Should have re-captioned that photo with 'Silly old local c@nt Bill Tooley points to where something happened in Sanson that was actually interesting' LMAO! (Back on soap-box) Sanson - centre of the civilised world is actually a wart on Bull's backside that dwells in the shadow of its metropolitan bulk. Conversely, Bulls cunningly and strategically pins its hopes for tourism fame (or increased property value...) on annoyingly quirky business signs and billbords that attempt at humour by playing on the town's name (discerningly changed from that of Clifton a century ago). Ironically, in my view, the one thing that Sanson can shake its fist at Bulls about (other than that the village is placed on the intersection of SH1 and SH3...) is the fact that it squats on the extended centre-line of Ohakea's main runway 09/27, within spitting distance of the threshhold (unlike Bulls some km outside of the circuit) and therefore offers unequaled convenience for the thirsty, discerning enthusiast. The very thing some old codger is bitching about is the only thing keeping the place alive or for which it is worth visiting. Interestingly, Google earth shows only one farm house on the extended centre-line. All other construction(!) is well away from the flightpath. Oh, people like this remind me of the people of Krikkit...
