Thanks Sam, terrific photos. Were they actually doing arrestor landings while you were there? I don't see any hooks on these aircraft.

I like how the Singaporean F-16's have little windows painted along the sides so the media thinks they are just airliners.

OK. Would have been quite neat to see an F-16 getting trapped by the wire.

Thanks for sharing your photos Sam, I'd have loved to get down there but I had no petrol money. I'm also very surprised that there's not more photos given how excited everyone was for this.

Labour was never going to go for this, F15 and F16 are too warry, and it would be a constant reminder that they are the cause of NZ no longer having this type of capability. And the Helen is still pulling the strings.....

You're all carrying on like the past Government didn't have time to do it if they deemed it so important. Much like the C-130 and P-3 replacements .
Defence in NZ is poorly served by all sides of politics

If you watched the press conference that Winnie and Mark gave the other day they were asked about this deal and Mark indicated no decision on this had been made yet. Also inside sources have indicated at this stage it's still going ahead.

Somebody I know high up in defence (ex-serving military, now a civilian working for NZDF) told me only last weekend that the various issues are still being worked through.
Basically, haggling as to who will pay for what and who will provide what.

Does he know something we don't? About what? As far as I am aware the Singapore deal is still on. That is according to several currently serving people here, plus what Winston Peters said, and now this guy. In fact the only place I have seen any mention that the deal is off is in the rumours and speculation on this page.

There are definitely rumours it's off coming out of HQ. But I suspect those who say don't know, and those who don't know talk
