I see it appears to have change from the original computer graphics.
They originally had two little lowered pits in the back corners of the flight deck. From what I understood to be for the mini typhoon mounts. They are now not there and its had two new platforms added up top in up behind the funnels.
I guess that's where they will have the Mini typhoon mounts?

I don't think the mini typhoons will be mounted there...as a very limited firing arc... and most likely for auto fire fighting mounts and or for maintenance etc... But if you look closely there is provision amidships on the superstructure there seems to be a spot and mounts there... However I will admit I don't know...

Now that’s what we call a warm welcome! ✈️ Our Hercules aircraft and an Orion aircraft flying over Auckland harbour welcoming the @nznavy's newest ship Aotearoa to New Zealand.

Have to say it was pretty cool watching them do laps as she came in. I almost didn’t go due to work but thought, how often do we get moments like this here? Glad I went.

Same here, it was pretty cool but I couldn’t help thinking the welcome should have been a trio of F16s at full lick up the harbour. I mean from an NZAF ACF squadron ☹️ What could have been....

That’s being saved for the 4 Type 26’s Yer dreaming mate... I suppose we should be grateful to Gerry then Ron for this new vessel actually getting here even though it looks likely to remain completely defenceless for the foreseeable future. I think the Navy should at least laser print a mock up Phalanx and HMGs to give impression A11 is protected.

First landing, HMNZS Aotearoa welcomed the NZ Air Force to its flight deck for the first time as one of No. 3 Squadron's NH90 helicopters & our Seasprite helicopter from No. 6 Squadron practised landing and flight deck procedures.

It was very cool seeing her in close to the shore this morning. I wonder if she is doing more trials or going to meet HMNZS Te Kaha to refuel her on her way home.
