BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150) is the first modern surface combatant of the Philippine Navy and is currently being fitted out at Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard. Royal New Zealand Navy's HMNZS Aotearoa is also being fitted out next to it. Check out their size differences!

Just looked at wiki for that Phillipines frigate Jose Rizal and what an interesting story full of controversy, almost complete weapons and sensor fitout changed, HHI accused of making spec changes without authority and questions enquires to senior govt levels. Chief of Phillipines navy lost his job too. I wonder what the issue was between Thales and Phillipines navy that resulted in a full list of preferred Thales sensors and CMS replaced. Still, they are getting two nice compact stealth frigates, sadly lots of FFBNW weapons

An older photo of the launch ... Han Young-seuk, Hyundai Heavy Industries CEO, sixth from right, and Royal New Zealand Navy Rear Admiral David Proctor, fourth from left, pose with three New Zealander veterans who fought in the Korean War and their families during a launching ceremony for the 23,000-ton logistic support vessel HMNZS Aotearoa in Ulsan Wednesday.

Interesting decoration on the vessel. I guess if anyone thinks it's ugly, at least they are authourised to put some lipstick on it...

Not as ugly as that sailor's apron.

On left looks like CAP Simon Rooke, Aotearoa’s CO. Will the self defence weapons, the two mini typhoons and phalanx be fitted by HHI or at DNB?

Not as ugly as that sailor's apron. That apron as you call it, is the CNs (Chief of Navy) korowai. I think that the CAF has his own one as well. The CDF certainly has. The korowai are worn as a badge or symbol of office and as a symbol of the mana of the person wearing it.

I presume that the mini typhoons and phalanx will be fitted in Ulsan by HHI because Aotearoa is undertaking her shakedown during here voyage to DNB.

I actually like the adoption of those indigenous cultural elements. Shows a country in moving towards maturity in independence and taking its past with it. Makes a nice change where every navy’s uniform looks the same boring white. Recently when the RAAF went to Japan with a squadron of fighters the thing that generated the most interest amongst the Japanese was the jet painted up as per the local base aboriginal people, the Worimi.

You might see it as PC nonsense but why not. If anything is becoming irrelevant it’s the UK especially in this part of the world (except for the rugby tonight .sorry) Anyway every navy’s uniform looks the same boring white. An example is when the RAAF went to Japan with a squadron of fighters the thing that generated the most interest amongst the Japanese was the jet painted up as per the local base aboriginal people the Worimi. In my mind the sooner we can replace irrelevant crown crests with truly national symbols the better. It only gets worn on very special occasions... but like you I see nothing wrong with it and shows we are making our own traditions

I edited it because It was also responding to Dave’s post which has since been removed.

Oh... it's now on... lol Actually it's more like Touché But in all honesty the colours could be something to do the Korean culture... I don't really know.

Could be, but if it is then who ever came up with the colours should be keelhauled and lashed because the colours clash. Now here did I put my cat of nine tails?
