Hi everyone, By now many of you will already know that Graeme Frew is taking his Yak-3 across to the Reno Air Races 2017. The Yak is already on the water as we speak after a monumental effort from the team at JEM Aviation, myself included, and will arrive at Chino, California for reassembly and test flying prior to the trek to Reno, Nevada. Some of you will also note the race number, Race 35, a tribute to another Kiwi legend Burt Munro. I will be heading across to the US early September to assist Graeme and everyone else on the team so will hopefully be able to provide some updates and pictures if we aren't rushed off our feet. We are trying to develop as much of a buzz about this as we can as it is such a huge effort and marvelous thing that Graeme is about to do. Keep monitoring what we are up to on the following and feel free to share as much as you like. Yes I have been following this on Facebook, and Graeme has agreed to come on the WONZ Show as a guest very soon to talk about the Yak 3 and the Reno adventure. It's really excellent to see this happening. I know the Thunder Mustang team had plans to go and race at Reno a few years back but it never came to pass in the end. It's believed Graeme's team will be the first Kiwi team to compete at the famous air races.

She arrived at Reno safe and sound, but according to the AAFO forum (link) had a mayday during practice yesterday, immediately after a simulated mayday. Landed safely, spent a while on the runway before taxiing away under its own power. UPDATE from Graeme on Facebook: "I apologise for the lack of info over the last few days. #Fullnoise35 has not been particularly cooperative and trying to do everything myself has been a challenge. Yesterday I did in fact declare a Mayday as the oil pressure had dropped off. It was precautionary and good practice. Luckily the forces are finally gathering and Jay JEM Aviation Ltd will get her licked into shape." Photo by AAFO'er Desertdawg They have the use of Rare Bear's trailer! How cool is that?!

I think it needs to be updated - in theory you should be able to click on each pilot, aircraft and race to see the results. In the meantime, race regular Brad Haskin (some cool videos on his YouTube page) has done this very cool poster showcasing the Unlimited field! Some nice little in-jokes when you look closely. Was the low oil pressure the problem with the race engine?

The aircraft is now on the Australian L-39 team's hangar for the overnight engine change, good on the Aussie's for coming to Full Noise's aid.

Aussies and Kiwis may be at each other regularly but when push comes to shove we will always back each other. Hope it all comes together for the Full Noise team. Very capable bunch of people. Good Luck!
