Got around two editing a short clip of my B25 Mitchell to DH Caribou conversion, flies a little fast, need a bit more time on her to slow her down a bit.

Yesterday afternoon's efforts, couple of favourites, this little Thunderbolt one of my favorite ultra micro warbirds, she's converted from a razorback to a bubble canopy in the markings of the American ace Gabby Gabreski. This 1.1m Cliiped Wing Cub stock except for the tundra tyres, just a great plane for out and out fun, can be flown scale or crazy as well!

Been plodding away at a makeover of a second hand 1/6th scale P40, very inspired by Grasshoppars all metal job. No where near his standards, this one in foam and a flyer. Panel lines too obvious, spack filling these, pilot on a servo and extended the tail to a later Model.

Unrelated to your models, but was just trawling YT and it decided i needed to watch a vid (mostly a collecting of stills) on the flying boat era on Lord Howe. Very interesting! This then lead to a forum thread on flyernzl's visit in 2020. Much interesting all around.

A war weary, weathered wing, hmm weathering is something I would love to get better at, aircraft in the Pacific area copped it operating off crushed coral strips so really want to try and replicate this look. As A24-459 had a replacement wing from an earlier machine I really wanted to try a portray this look. So a tried an tested technique, salt, so what you do is lay down a base coat, in This case silver or bare alloy, then spray water on the area then sprinkle table salt, thank you wife. Wait for it to drey overnight, then spray the top coat. Wait for it to dry then brush off the salt. The result a random chipped effect where the thrown up coral chunks and dust would have blasted the wing. In the below pic you will see the results of this effect, on the wing surface you can see the salt before I brush it off, just waiting for the paint to dry so all will be reviled soon, fingers crossed I haven’t overdone it! Paint and decals pretty much done, weathering next. Trying to depict an aeroplane that has had it’s wing replaced with a much older wing than the fuselage it has been fitted to, so sun bleached and worn Coral strips would have given the paint a flogging.

A very clever technique to produce fine weathering. Looks realistic

Thanks tbf2504 Big P40 ready to fly, cordite and exhaust stains, use pastels applied with a brush, less is more seems to be the rule of thumb, always struggled with weathering. Out and about for a photo shoot in case she doesn’t look like this after I fly her!

Always wanted a Pilatus Porter, scored a second hand beater, got her flying okay, surprisingly nose heavy even with the battery as far back as I could get it! Had to do her as an Australian Army job as their camo is so cool. Modelled on an airframe that still exists in storage with the Australian War Memorial collection. A14-690 was accepted by the Australian Army on 16 January 1969 and served with 161 Independent Reconnaissance Flight based at Nui Dat, South Vietnam from 22 Dec 1969 until the unit was withdrawn in 1972. It flew in excess of 400 sorties and was damaged by enemy ground fire in 1971. A14-690 as she is today in storage, during her service his machine crashed around 1978 and again in 1980, it was well known that she didn’t fly straight no manner of rigging could correct this problem. All the Australian Army Porters where flown from the Pilatus factory to Australia, The first delivery flight took sixteen days, they served from 1968 to 1992.

Thanks Zac, yes that Ozcam is a cracker, just need some lighter winds so I can get her in the air, looking like being a bit wet here over Christmas.

Bit of footage from a while back, modded an ultra micro Mustang into a (Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation) CAC 15 ‘Kangaroo.’ This was an all Australian concept and design for a fighter intercepter using the Rolls-Royce Griffon 61 engine. During a test flight in 1946 managed to achieve 448mph in level Only one was made and unfortunately scrapped In 1950. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAC_CA-15

Got the Porter in the air, she's heavy so fast, bit twitchy as well, few heart in mouth moments!
