It’s a C53D-DO built 1942 (LN-WND) has no cargo door, I think the squareness is just the shadowing/lighting playing tricks.

I think the flag markings on the rudder make the shape look different, too. A DC-2, that I would love to see!

There were two at the show, while not the same angle you can make a comparison I guess.

Nuuumannn, Many thanks for the compliment. I really appreciate it. Just hope that it may have been good enough to have an invitation for next year.

Some good shots there Peter and nice to meet you in England. What I am more impressed with is your ability to download and post your photos to the forum so quickly, members here should be thankful for that. I didn't take many shots at the show, only enough for magazines and am yet to look at them so you did well getting them online so quickly.
To answer your question, the aircraft flying in the Balbo need to achieve 200 knots reasonably easily, the Hurricanes and Mk1 Spitfires are considered too slow these days but pilot numbers could prevent a few anyway.

Thank you so much Gavin, I am humbled to get such a compliment from someone so skilled, you are very kind, great to meet you and have a chat as well. Speed downloading, I've been on holidays with time on my hands plus if I am honest I'm just planecrazey almost a disease, rc aeroplanes, magazines, photos, fully hooked!
There are quite a few soft images in there, I hate stopped props so the classic balance of slow shutter speed for the prop blur against the risk of camera shake. I take my hat off to you holding a heavy lens all day in the hot sun is hard work, we should and are grateful for the awesome images you share.
Don't have the budget for a good lens so I am pretty happy with the results, this is only the third airshow I have had a go at capturing, have photographed a lot of surfing in the past, I guess this helps. The other thing about Legends is the sun is not in an ideal position till later in the day hence all the washed out, overexposed shots. Great experience, wonderful show blessed by awesome, very hot, weather!
Thanks also for the reason for the Hurricanes and baby Spits not being in the Balbo, would imagine there is a fair bit behind the scenes organising such a spectacle.

The four ship of Buchon's was brilliant, the music from the move topped it off really well. This years trip was all about photo flights for me, long days every day for two weeks up until Legends and was buggered by the time I got back for Legends so spent more time watching the show which was great. Below is the Mk 1 and under that the Mk XIV in tight flown by Steve Jones in the lead up to the show, Duxford has always been about Spitfires but the range of exotic machines is growing all the time which adds so much to the local airshow scene. _09A4348 by Gavin Conroy, on Flickr AC3Q7170 by Gavin Conroy, on Flickr 6654645 by Gavin Conroy, on Flickr

Great work Kevin !!!! Nice to be able to have a quick chat while we were there. Bloody brilliant Mk.1 shot......I can confirm about the Hurricanes and early "baby" spits. In the briefing in 2014 I remember Keith being placed last and hearing the air to air/ground comments.

OK, for those of you who have asked...... I did type Kevin. Its a bit of an "IN" joke over here from Gavin's first trip. A bit of Trans-Ditch "Taking the puss....." I cannot wait to see the other results from his trip if these are the teasers !

However the aircraft below became my favourite after seeing it for the first time last year so nice to have that done. Bloo*y Brilliant Shots ! You and John Dibbs.... best in the world. Not just the aircraft. Its also something about the 'feel' you extract from the background.
