Curtiss, No I don't have access to that publication. Thanks for the offe. Basically any ground support equipment that was used by the RNZAF in the Pacific i'm interested in. A couple of items that I'm interest in modelling and lacking info on include: M5 crane tractor. The tracked Skid Bomb and Torpedo Mk 6 (in the centre front of the picture) 5SU-Emirau-1945

Progress on 1/48th Celtrac. I've added the back parts to track drive sprocket and idler, and to the road wheels. Still to add the smaller top rollers. Also added a fill-in pieces the the side of the body to stop the though body daylight. The added depth to the suspension components is obvious (well to me).

Detailing the Celtrac is nearly finished. Basically just a new grill and headlights to add.

I hadn't realised just how big the Centrac is until put beside the Jeep so I had a check of the dimensions with my reference book. The Celtrac is accurate 1/48th scale.

Apparently that model of Cletrac was originally designed for (I think) the US Army as a "Hi-Speed Gun Tractor"! That is to say, somewhat faster than the "average" tractors of the day. As for the "Gun" part of the name, that meant heavy(ish) artillery.

Nice clear copies of the photos but now I realise I need to thin the track pads down considerably. Darn ripping apart begin.

Has there been any progress we can see from the past seven months?

Only minor work on accessories. Flat out at work and unfortunately the opening of the border has restarted international work travel.

A new year and time to do some more work on the airfield. First up I'm going to have a go at an M5 crane using a pair of Tamiya G40 dozers as a base to modify into an M2 International TD9 tractor. The first subassembly to make are longer tracks with similar size sprocket and idler by joining two tracks together with a sprocket at each end. The teeth on the front sprocket were then removed and replaced with piece of curved plastic. An addition track roller has been added to the bottom section of track and the top roller repositioned. Modified set at the top, original G40 trackset at the bottom Now to make another trackset for the other side.

Great progress making the TD 9 tractor. I have filed off the vertical grill detail on the radiator guard, now to figure out how to replicate the International's horizontal bars.

Opps. I've been away with work and while away I went to add a post on this thread when I looked at the picture of tractor progress above and it hit me - I had glued the final drives to the tractor hull not to the inner side of the drive sprocket where they should be on this conversion. Now back at home at first opportunity the final drives were slit off and put in the correct spots and revised hull sections added. Moral check photos/drawings twice and glue once. The misalignment of the front of engine cover has been sorted out.

Thirty more bamboo added along with a small fuel dump by the locie shed and the track area suitably stained by fuel and oil. The baseline tractor also got a coat of paint before I start on the crane structure..

I decided to spend the long weekend modelling time to focus on a new and hopefully fairly simple project, build a 1/48th scale Mark 6 tracked bomb and torpedo skid as shown in the foreground if this RNZAF SU picture. 5SU-Emirau-1945I have been researching these very unusual pieces of ground support equipment for sometime and trying to figure out how to build one when I thought of basing the track on tracks made in a much smaller scale. I located 1/100 scale Zvezda German WW2 SDKfz 251 halftrack which has wheels of the correct diameter and have a little detail on their faces. Two were purchased for just over $10.00 each knowing I'll just be using the tracks (and probably the front wheels for another project). Each set of tracks was reduced to just two wheels with two further wheels being placed on the back of the new bogie bogie and new flat track links glued on. So last night much cutting and filing started and here's progress. It's tiny, the whole thing is only 29mm long and will be 10 mm high. Steering gear, drawbar and tie down points still to build.

Think that image of the Corsair and your bomb/torpedo skid should be credited to 5 Servicing Unit at Emirau, in the interests of preventing any future confusion.
