It is bomb trolley Friday. Six under construction, three more to go and one box still on backorder.

This is a really interesting photo Paul, that may give some inspiration. That is a mobile workshop parked up under a fairly permanent looking canvas-clad shade shelter. I love the huge tropical tree in the foreground, too. PR1388 LINKCamp workshop with RNZAF personnel working in the shade. Presumed to be Base Depot Workshops, Espiritu Santo

The identification of this machinery truck really has me stumped. The twin rear wheels suggests a civilian pattern chassis while the visible right hand side steering wheel looks like an integrated cab/ body. The twin rear doors are also unusual.

The wording on the back step of the PR1388 photo says KEEP OUT

I cannot even see a rego. The only letters I see is chalked onto the doorstep, which reads "KEEP OUT".
I also do not see a steering wheel up front, just a lathe. I wondered if it was in fact a trainer unit, not a truck at all?

I have been painting the bomb trailers Mk2 olive drab however in Warren Russells aircraft colour schemes book covering Corsairs he notes they were usually painted orange yellow.
In the notes that came with the kit it states the basic colour was olive drab but they were often coloured according to the needs of the service unit.
Can anyone offer any further insight?

Possibly the orange-yellow was added to them to make them more visible to pilots taxiing aircraft around the dispersals?
Loads of ground equipment is yellow, stands, jacks, A.P.U.'s, etc., for visibility's sake.

I need a break from flax bushes so I've started another LCM3 that will be finished as this unique medical evacuation LCM. I also noticed that my box with eight completed bomb trolleys had suffered an accident from another box being placed on top resulting in four loosing wheels and axles. I've started the necessary repairs. Finally the baseboards have been taken from storage so I can sort out the manual operating rods for the points. The unfinished electrical point controls will be removed.
