You'd better crack on, the summer rainy season will be here soon. You'll have to add lots of muddy resin for full effect.

Yeah but it would be great if my airstrip had some aircraft as well but I'm having too much fun making the land bound stuff at the moment.

Sometimes research on the interweb can be a pleasure. Looking at what info I could find for a future RNZAF ground equipment model, it all started with picture off this website. A workshop trailer clearly of US origin so searched website which has pages of US equipment descriptions. Now I have a name and even better a set of dimensions. Another search using the name I found photos of both sides and the inside. Now I just need to break out the drawing board and calculator. I've been working on workshop semi trailer in slow time. I'm still not sure it I will have the rear open or closed as I'm not sure how it was fitted out. IMG_3510 by tankienz, on Flickr

Unfortunately real time project building a replacement deck at home took up most of holiday time so lucky the US Navy Seabees arrived and in just two evenings assembled a floating wharf from plastic card and strip. The standard US Navy steel box was used for all sorts of things: wharfs, powered and unpowered pontoons, floating docks for boat repair while on sure they became bridges and water tanks. Great read at web.mst.edu/~rogersda/umrcourses/ge342/SeaBees-Revised.pdfTo hopefully reduce drumming sound from plastic box I inserted blocks of foam. I still need to

That was a great story Errol. Very interesting and entertaining.
I have heard/read a few stories over the years of RNZAF beer runs, one in an Avenger, another in a Hudson for example.

Wooden dowel distressed in lathe to represent coconut tree trunks assembled to represent the faces of the wharf structure. Also piles to retain floating pontoon in place. All trees felled to make this possible were felled for the war effort.

Fantastic effort. Great detail, with a wide range of machinery to keep you looking. Well done.

Thanks very much. I've spent a few days back tree making so coconut tree number forty one has just been planted which finishes baseboard two of three that need trees - YEAH . I've also been working on the beach and sea area. The static grass under the trees looks good and I only got one static shock when I touched the earthing nail which is good for me I'm hoping this will become one of the photographic sightlines when its all done. Experimenting with toilet paper to make waves. Blending the back scenes together is definitely something I need to add to the work list.

Grass that long will have plenty of snakes.... Ah I have some 1/35th scale varmits somewhere that were given to be for my Rhodesian War layout. I spent a few months in Bougainville. The only snake I saw was standing in long grass on the edge of a village setting up an HF antenna then I looked down and saw it crossing my boots. I gave the universal slithering snake handsign and was immediately swamped by about 20 pikinii armed with machete. They didn't get meat very often but this time the snake got away
