Mustang51 'Ando', yes certainly Avalon is HOT, hope you are staying hydrated and finding shade where you can. Have seen quite a few comments from people who have been at Avalon past few days saying how hot it was/is and that organisers need to provide more shade by some means eg. open sided marquees firmly anchored down.
Re Roulettes at WOI 2019, operative words in my earlier post "might be". Roulettes are working up on the PC-21 but full displays using PC-21 will be dependant on how smoothly work up goes, aircraft availability, etc. In talking with their support guys they hope transition to PC-21 continues without any major issues and they can provide 'full' displays with PC-21 in near future. If they run into any issues and cannot provide full formation, then they would hope to provide either a 'solo' PC-21 display or a smaller interim formation display.
In latest news from HARS, they have posted today that they have completed some maintenance work on their AP-3C and are planning on flying it next weekend during their scheduled tarmac weekend (usual caveats on technical and weather). HARS certainly look to be upping the tempo in getting more of their 'heavy metal'with all the relevant maintenance done, associated maintenance releases completed and operational.

Big question for WOI 2019 is will any of the HARS heavies participate in the flying program this year? A great show even better if that were to be the case. I'd suggest no. They seem to be using the event as a fundraiser to get people to pay extra money to walk though many of their aircraft. Sadly this means they don't fly them. I'm hoping they will fly the Tracker though.

Yep: looks like it was free for Gold Pass only, but it has been extended (I saw something of Facebook I think) www.wingsoverillawarra.com.au/page/ticket-selection

HARS are conducting the first flight of their AP-3C today at 10AM. The crew have already posted up a couple of "looks like a great day for flying" photos up on their FB page. So barring any last minute technical issues, Australia's latest warbird will take to the skies. If all goes well they expect to fly it again in company with their ex-RAAF Neptune this coming weekend.

Do they have current or ex-RAAF members as the crew? Or have some of the regular heavy pilots been converted to the type?

HARS AP-3C Orion VH-ORI ex-A9-753 has successfully conducted her first flight under HARS stewardship, well done to all involved. Before the test flight the crew conducted a number of engine full power run ups and a practice aborted take-off.
Dave, from what I have heard, the crew at this stage is largely composed of RAAF and ex-RAAF (that is on the RAAF Reserve) personnel, a number of the latter these days more involved in flying things with QF and VOZ flight numbers. I expect that in due course some of the HARS flight deck crew who are current on other large multi-engine types may have the opportunity to train up as crew.

Thanks Col, I thought that would be the case. Great stuff that they have gotten it airborne.

The #Temora Aerodrome is set to become an even bigger tourist attraction thanks to more than $5m funding under the Building Better Regions Fund. The runway, main apron & taxiways will be upgraded meaning larger aircraft can fly in for the Warbirds Downunder Airshow. @temorashire
Edit: I realise the PR needs to be brief, but as the Connie lands there, I'm thinking it will enable heavier aircraft, and more large aircraft for the show. A Wedgetail or Orion is slightly smaller than the Constellation, so what larger things are we talking about - C-17, A330 MRTT?

The election frenzy is ramping up with both Aust and NSW heading to the polls soon. Given that I would have thought the possibility of better access to capital cities would get more votes than bigger planes at airshows. Maybe that is what they will say on the ground anyway. Good news nonetheless.

Sorry, power cut here so distracting myself by being silly.

TAM Canberra maintenance going very well with the boys under Andy Bishop...……….on another note...strange that the awarding of the $5.35mil AUST grant for the runways does not appear to include any maintenance of the residential airpark taxiways as the Temora Council wants to impose a $400 individual increase to the airpark lot owners to cover this work. I can say as an owner that the natives are NOT impressed.

I conveniently found myself needing to head to Melbourne for work in the first week of March. Wrangled being able to head over for the weekend prior Which just happened to be the weekend of the Avalon airshow. As per earlier posts.... insanely hot on the Sat at Avalon. High 30's with little or no shade. Sunday better, but flat and overcast later in the day. Cool show though. Love the ease of getting there from Melbourne (train + shuttle bus). Will definitely be back. Photos are here: williammays.myportfolio.com/australian-international-airshow-melbourne-2019

Great shots Will. I went in 2017 and couldn’t get down this year. My fav is the forward fuselage profile shot of the hornet dual taking off. Cool.
