I hadn't realised this is on this year - I'm looking into hopping over. Airfares are quite reasonable.

Tyabb could be an interesting airshow in terms of the participating aircraft line-up and should hopefully get some good local support following all the issues last year. Unfortunately don't think I will be able to make it down there, especially if the local weather and bushfire situation doesn't improve before then.

Wings over Illawarra in early May is likely to see the HARS Navy Heritage Flight Grumman Tracker included on the flying program, just hope they get better weather than last year's event.

Warbirds Over Scone in September is one that also holds great promise, especially as the new aviation heritage/warbird centre and airport terminal are due for completion by early September 2020 according to the plans they announced late last year and it is likely to be the debut event for a few projects out of the various hangars at Scone.

Did the council back down over the pathetic Tyabb noise issues and threat of closure?

Dave, last I saw or heard late last year was that the issue regarding permits and paperwork for the airfield and the various aviation businesses operating on the airfield was still ongoing, with the usual exchanges by both parties via the local press about what they thought their respective positions and deadlines for actions to be. Council is still pushing for a complete new master plan for the airfield and is trying to 'roll up' everything in terms of all the businesses under a master permit, and set a deadline for this all to happen. Which according to the comments in the local press was news to the Peninsular Aero Club and had not been agreed too. The permits by council for the airshow came after a fairly strong backlash and as a way to appease the locals in the community who support the airshow and the businesses in the local community who get economic benefit out of it. So the basic underlying issues are still bubbling along.

Flights booked for Tyabb. The Corsair and local P-40 (which I haven't seen since 2014) have been announced, along with quite a bit of ADF stuff. I might finally get to see a full C-27 display! Temora are sending the Boomarang and a Spitfire.

I know it's 2021 & this is a 2020 thread but I've just booked my accommodation in Melbourne for Easter, roll on Avalon & the 100th birthday of the RAAF!

Taking both my sons & meeting up with my Kiwi propellor-head buddies for a grand ol' time

RAAF Museum Point Cook Interactive Flying Day Sunday 23 February 2020, will include the RAAF Museum's CA-18 Mustang along with the F4U Corsair and P-40F Warhawk from Tyabb. A little bit of practice together before the Tyabb Airshow in March.

Errol, hope you get good weather for Tyabb this weekend, the rain that has been hammering Melbourne last couple of days is starting to clear the area, so hopefully not too muddy underfoot by the time the airshow rolls around.

The widespread rainfalls across south eastern Australia last few days has certainly brought some much needed rain to many rural areas. Temora got about 50mm the last two days, so hopefully that will bring a tinge of green to the airfield and surrounds for them, it was looking very dry last time I was there last year. Will be interesting to see how the countryside heading out that way looks when I head over to Temora for their first flying day of the year on 21 March. Will be checking out progress on the Canberra which had its overhauled engines delivered from the UK mid-February and the Vampire is reportedly making good progress too.

Great news with the Corsair joining the line up at WOI 2020, I hear a few more interesting aircraft due to be announced soon in the line-up for WOI 2020.

Wings Over Illawarra 2020 are excited to announce that “Connie” the HARS Lockheed C-121C Super Constellation will be flying on both days of Wings Over Illawarra 2020.

Another good drawcard for WOI 2020, particularly with QANTAS 100th Anniversary.

ADF has confirmed their activity this Sunday for Tyabb.

The Australian Defence Force is proud to support this year’s Tyabb Airshow on 8 March with flying and ground displays by Air Force, Navy and Air Force Museum Heritage Aircraft.

The flying program for Air Force aircraft is:


12:55pm C-27J Spartan
2:50pm Roulettes
4:10pm C-17A Globemaster
