Final(?) Flight of a Qantas B747 in Australia as it heads off to the USA for storage/freighter conversion. Overflew HARS and it's older sister.

Looks like the Temora August Showcase has done down the tubes with the imposition of the State of Disaster in Victoria..............we should have done what you guys did from the outset. I can see this stretching out for a very long time...so sad

Confirmed, 29 August 2020 Temora Aviation Museum Aircraft Showcase cancelled.
Email received this morning, to quote:
"With increasing COVID-19 restrictions coming into place, management made the tough decision last Friday to cancel the scheduled 29 August Showcase event.
We remain positive that the 17 & 18 October event will take place, however we will keep you up to date as the event approaches." End Quote.
NSW Government is being very cautious about their current situation and with the number of 'hot spots' in that state, any event that involves people travelling outside their immediate home area is being discouraged. The way things are going at present, I think any larger scale public event before the end of the year would be looking doubtful.

sadly Colin I agree, I can't see WOI going ahead in November either. 2020 is a write off for those of us in Australia i fear. I can only hope we'll be in good enough shape that NZ will let us travel there without restrictions for Omaka next year. But I'm not hopeful of that either.

PM Ardern mentioned a requirement of at least 28 days with no community transmission before allowing free travel. That seems unlikely without an AU-wide objective of elimination. Unfortunately Temora isn't suitable for a drive-in airshow like Shuttleworth.

Latest update from Temora Aviation Museum on their new dates for Warbirds Down Under in early 2021:
QUOTE:
Thank you for your patience whilst we rescheduled Warbirds Downunder 2020. We are thrilled to announce the new event dates of Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th March 2021. We hope this new date suits existing ticket holders. If it does, there is no need for you to take any action- you will be emailed updated tickets with the new dates, over the next one to two weeks.
If the new date doesn't work for you, we apologise, and are pleased to provide a full refund of event tickets and camping tickets. Please request your refund by following this LINK
*Please note, as per previous communication, refunds to the original event must be requested by 11:59 pm October 16th 2020.
If you wish to purchase tickets, they will be available via our ticketing partner, Ticketmaster, from Wednesday 26th August from 10 am by clicking HERE
** Given the current COVID-19 restrictions, we will only be releasing General Admission tickets at this time, as our Grandstand capacity has been reached to meet current social distancing requirements. If Government restrictions ease, we will release our Premium Grandstand tickets, and allow upgrades from General Admission to Premium Grandstand tickets (no charge will be incurred for the transfer, only the ticket price difference will be charged).
We will keep you up to date with any changes to government restrictions that are in place if they effect our event.
Please contact the Museum at info@aviationmuseum.com.au or on 02 6977 1088 if you have any questions.
UNQUOTE.
First thing, happy doesn't clash with Classic Fighters 2021 at Omaka. Second thing, early enough advice to reserve some accommodation somewhere reasonably nearby. Third thing, early March, weather usually fairly good, could still be quite hot. Lastly, here's hoping Covid-19 situation by then is more stable and the event is able to proceed as planned, including hopefully Trans-Tasman Travel Bubble so a few of our friends from "across the ditch" can safely attend.

Wings Over Illawarra 2020, postponed from May 2020 to November 2020, now postponed to 13-14 November 2021. Due to uncertainty regarding health situation in NSW to allow such a large scale event to proceed, the 2020 event is effectively cancelled. The November 2021 date is to allow more certainty for planning to allow the event to go ahead. Ticket holders for the 2020 event will have tickets re-issued for the new 2021 dates - they are not issuing refunds at this time. The new dates are interesting as they fall a fortnight before the new dates for the Australian International Airshow at Avalon on 23-28 November 2021.
AND I just received the email with re-issued tickets for Temora Aviation Museum's Warbirds Down Under now scheduled for March 2021.
Oh it's a long time between airshows!

Temora Aviation Museum have their first Flying Weekend on today and tomorrow. This was originally to be the dates for Warbirds Down Under 2020, and looking at the current weather and what is predicted they may have dodged the bullet weatherwise by moving the event to early 2021 due to the ongoing Covid19 restrictions. For those who would like to see what it looks like today at Temora (or any day) have a look at the weather cams - three views - available here: auswebcams.com/YTEM/Weather is predicted to fine up and clear a bit for tomorrow for the second day of the Flying Weekend. All being well tomorrow, I will be up before the sun and on the road to get my first live aviation fix for this year (if you don't count the procession of fire bombing aircraft over my place earlier this year). Temora have Covid19 crowd management plans and measures in place that has restricted the number of specators able to attend the event and maintain outdoor social distancing standards.

Well worth the drive over to Temora Aviation Museum on Sunday morning to get my first airshow 'fix' for this year. Was a bit concerned on the drive over from Canberra as there was quite a lot of low lying, fairly solid overcast with the occasional short period of light misty rain, just enough to need the wipers to clear the windscreen. However, getting closer to Temora the cloud base was visibly lifting and there were more lighter patches of sky evident. It was also nice in the drive over and back to see the countryside looking a whole lot greener and some of the dams on the properties with water in them, compared to the bone dry, baked and dusty conditions out that way late last year. Nice range of aircraft on the apron, nice selection planned to fly during the day. It was apparent that given the ongoing Covid restrictions the full roster of Temora pilots was not available, so the available TAM pilots were kept pretty busy jumping between cockpits, special shout out to Stephen Death who was especially busy. Good to see the visiting pilots who also came along and displayed their aircraft, much appreciated. Covid measures worked well, crowd seemed to be pretty good at following the rules, so a good day was likely had by all. A few selected photos from the day.
