Been looking for small captive nuts, but nothing close to the right scale. resorted to making my own. Rear lifting point reinforcement.

The rear fuselage from Sta #7 to Sta #18 is almost fully skinned. I'm out in the field at the moment, pics to come. Next step will be to join the forward and aft sections together.
However, in the meantime another question for the group. When Gloria was being prepared for display, was any battle damage noticed that had field repairs carried out?
If so, is there a record of location and size? Would be easier to add this detailing before the skins are finally riveted in place.
Thanks for any information.

Amazing build there - I'm pretty sure you've put more hours in to this model than we did on the full sized Gloria Yes - there was some battle damage - it looked like something (Japanese ?) had come up thru the LH flap nicking the flap channel then up out thru the adjacent flap bay stringer and top skin... all nicely flush patch repaired... will dig out some photos. Keep up the good work. Hvd1041

Finally have the rear fuselage skinned and drilled out. Still have to dismantle everything and finish off all the attachments internally for cable pulleys and mounting brackets. Now for a pause and hope that enough measure twice and cut once was done to allow the forward and aft sections to match at Sta #7.

Wow this is awesome, so the motor scratch built as well? Haha, no my CAD skills are not that good. The engine was designed by TDR Innovations. I made the ignition harnesses and added the extra details like bolts, hoses etc. Still have to get the transfer case designed and made up.

A couple of hours later, all joined together. Wow and I know I have said this a few times. Love the rivet and panel detail, almost a pity all the internal detail will be hidden away! I see a little paint has been trialed, will she be painted or stay natural alloy?

The rough green paint was applied ages ago without any etch primmer first. It kind of gives a bit of a weathered look, but goes straight back to bare metal.
The plan at this stage is to fully paint in the scheme worn just prior to leaving the Pacific region, which has the yellow Gloria Lyons.

Utterly stunning. Frame the photos right and you could fool people into thinking they were taken in a restoration shop!

This is truly artful! Really reminds me of Young C. Parks amazing Corsair and Mustang models. Clever idea about the paint chipping as well!
