Going to be a few sleepless nights ahead.... The best formulae for problem solving usually end up with lying awake visualizing the problem/solution

Finally found a few hours to get back to building. Lots of small fiddly bits to make for the main landing gear retraction. Side sway brace.

Top multi directional hinge taking shape. The lower trunnion hinge points were not low enough, so a rebuild was required.

Pivot points mostly finished on the starboard leg. A few minor adjustments to get it moving smoothly. Next challenge will be sectioning out the bevel gear.

Wow that is one of the coolest pieces of scratch built modelling I have ever seen! Looking forward to seeing the gear complete, real one all be it incomplete, for comparison........

My brain is fried after working on this all day. The oleo leg bevel gear was pretty straight forward, bolts holding the sectioned gear onto a flange. Getting the other beveled gear lined up so the teeth mesh smoothly and the clearances work is going to take a fair bit of time. The middle brass nut should hopefully allow the gear to slide across.

Thanks for the photo. finding close up information is hard at times. Is that on Bess or one of the Wangaratta restorations?

Very brief break between deployments. Made a temporary centre line jig to align the main webs on the starboard wing half. Web #1 painted along with a few of the nose ribs. An additional hole will need to be made in Web #1 to allow the longer than original RAM actuator to pass through.
Plan is to get the retraction movement and alignment set up and then install the vertical section of the bevel gears to allow the 89 deg rotation.

"Bess" at Omaka this winter, have posted a video of various bits and bobs during my visit.
