Main landing gear retract ram rear mounting block. This was a machined forging. Some tricky soldering will be required to get this finished.

Do the black and red wires indicate that the undercarriage will be actually retractable through electric means?

Do the black and red wires indicate that the undercarriage will be actually retractable through electric means? Hi Dave, the last image above is a link to a video, showing the extension movement. 15 seconds for full extension of the ram = 15 seconds for full retraction of the gear, hopefully. I'm looking to add some microswitches to delay the retraction / extension sequence of the second leg.

Good Grief(2)!!
And here I am mentally envisioning the fold/rotate/retract sequence of a 1:1 scale P-40 and wondering why Grasshopper isn't doing one of those instead...!! This just keeps getting better!

This just keeps getting better! A significant lack of funds is in the way.....If I ever win the Gold Lotto a 1:1 rebuild would be considered.

My mind is spinning...it'll probably explode when I see the completed assembly in action! Wow, Peter!! Bravo!

More progress today.... Starboard main landing gear retraction pivot mounts. This angle is to account for the 6 degrees of dihedral. Looks a bit strange, hopefully it all lines up correctly when everything is riveted together. Upper retraction arm.
