Most Sundays I am at Omaka working on a real P-40 wing. They are a very complicated and tricky beast at full size. I cannot imagine how hard it would be at 1/6 scale. Great work!

I have asked the question many times recently why did I start this project. It seems to be taking forever, and there is still a fair way to go. Hopefully the second half will progress faster as I learn new techniques and Aquire the tooling to make the thousands of parts.
All of these pieces have been installed and removed dozens of times to make adjustments or add extra pieces that were discovered on a different plan or a newly seen photo. If I had a dollar for every time a part is installed and removed, I would be able to fund a full size restoration!
Thanks for following along and your support.

Have mainly modified existing kits and also scratch built a few projects, never anything even close to this!
I always find thinking or looking back to where you were compared to where you are as rewarding. This thread is great for this, such an awesome project and I believe I am correct in saying almost historic in the sense of which P40 you are modelling.
Can't wait to see her in person one day, tip my hat off to you big time for the perserverance and precision of this project. Understand the whole fit, remove and refit process, wouldn't be surprised if you have even junked a few bits along the way?
On the subject of viewing her in person, I seem to remember a mention of her ending up at Omaka alongside the real Gloria Lyons, is this still the plan?
Thanks for sharing........

These were waiting for me when I arrived home. Top one is intended for the tailwheel. It has the correct amount of travel but is a bit on the bulky side. The bottom two are ideal for the main landing gear, again with the correct travel, but the motor body is quite a bit longer than the space between web #2 and #3. May nee to anchor the forward pivot off web #1 instead.

Latest progress before headings away for a while. The last of the round head rivets have been used. Placing an order for 30,000 shortly, enough to finish Gloria and some spares for the next project. 250Lb bomb primmed, need to build the mounting components.

Finally found a bit of time to finish off the flush rivets on the port wing tank cover. Waiting on the round head rivets to complete this section. Time now to repeat on the starboard side.

I really admire your patience and persistence, some of that repetitive work must me mind numbing. I'm guessing you sometimes get it wrong and have to "go back to the drawing board" so to speak?
Would imagine you have a scrap pile stashed away, be great to one day see this up close and personal, what a project!
Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing.......

Sta #27 doubler plate going on. This section has been completed and the holes along the keel have been match drilled, awaiting a resupply of round head rivets. The angled keel cover mount has been started and will be riveted in place.
