Break is over, out into the field again. Fuselage station #15 fitted to the rear reinforcing deck Almost had station #14 finished as well. A case of mis reading a measurement correctly on the drawings. 10mm resulted in a 15% scaling error.

Seeing the view with mission/kill markings and engine bearers makes it seem so real. Amazing!!

As has been said already I like many am enjoying this, find myself coming back and re looking at the details.
I hope you don't mind a couple of questions, I am wondering about the hinge in the last pic, do you have to make these or do you purchase them pre built? Another question, would imagine you don't but do you make many mistakes, as in make a part and realise, for example, the holes are in the wrong place and it can't be used?
Thank you looking forward to seeing more, just an awesome project to follow......

My wife occasionally wanders into the garage, shakes her head and asks, where on earth are you going to store that when you're finished and walks off. At the rate things are going, I have a few more years before having to worry about that. Hopefully soon the fuselage sections will be joined up, around 1.5m, firewall back. That will create a few headaches finding space to finish off the details. So far, these are the only major mistakes. Wheel well sub ribs were about 20mm too long and fuselage Sta # 15. Both about 15% too big. Each piece is made from a scaled original plan, so if it is wrong, then the whole piece is wrong. A case of lower the head, sigh, crack open a beer and start again. The hinges come from Meister Scale. Turn buckles and rod ends are from Micro-Modele.

I am enjoying this build as much as following the full sized warbird rebuilds, and following Mike Patey's Scrappy videos.

I am enjoying this build as much as following the full sized warbird rebuilds, and following Mike Patey's Scrappy videos. Following the 3 restorations from John Smith's collection is very enjoyable. There has already been some good reference material from posted photos. Without the wings, 3220's fuselage looks very long in the nose. I'm also torn now on which paint scheme to use. The collective kill / mission markings are OK, but the choice will be the yellow pacific based or the white New Zealand based "Gloria Lyons".
