That provided a nice bit of entertainment today at work. Unfortunately I only got a couple of poor phone photos of it on the ground - didn't have a proper camera to get any shots of it airborne. But it was nice to soak in the atmosphere, seeing a warbird test flight at Ardmore felt like a bit of much missed normality! (and, I suppose, how lucky we are that I can refer to such an event as 'normality'!)

Also worth noting as well as the P40's listed above. 2 additional sets of wings built here for a Hawk 75 (built to P40E specs) and for a P40F.

Back in the early 1990's I remember talking with Phil Murray who was then the pilot of Sir Tim Wallis's P-40K, and he said there were only ten P-40's flying in the world. I wonder what the airworthy number is now. New Zealand and Australia have certainly boosted those numbers significantly since then.

WIX states 33 currently airworthy (so MUM makes 34) doesn’t include RMH as still grounded, amongst a couple of others that have not flown in years.

Good point, I had those on my list but wasn't sure whether to include. I didn't realise the Hawk wings were to E spec. Very interesting (I know little of the radial end of the family)

Guys, The Kittyhawk page from NZDF serials has just arrived for updating. I would appreciate any information you may have to help me update the page before it is reloaded. Also have the Mosquito page so any help there also much appreciated. I have some details for both pages, but always open to help from forumites. Email hs780mf@gmail.com
