Hi all, It was exciting to log onto Facebook this morning and see a post about this P-40E having its wing mated to the fuselage at Ardmore yesterday - what a great start to Level 1! You can see several photos at Pioneer's site here: www.pioneeraero.co.nz/2020/06/09/wings-on/

I'm quite lucky that I work in the building next door to them!

The Warbird News article mentioned that Italy is home the only Merlin engined P40L. They must have forgotton or don't know about Judy Pay's Merlin powered P40L airworthy at Tyabb.

So there are three? I always thought there were only two. The Italian P40L is the one I didn't know about. Good to know that Merlin powered Kittyhawks survive in some numbers.

I recall the finding of a P-40L in the Mediterranean Sea quite a few years ago now - how sound would the airframe/engine be after sitting on the sea floor for 50 or 60 years I wonder? Or is there yet another one around? David D

That would depend on what depth it was sitting at, the deeper it is the less oxygen in the water and therefore less corrosion

You are right David. It was the P40L from the Mediterranean and is statically displayed at the Museo Piana delle Orme.

I'm just out of sight behind the engine in that video! Got a long distance photo but the video is much better.

As much as I hope it sticks around for a while, I hope "shipping problems" isn't code for anything...

It's not. There are major issues with getting shipping space these days, post-COVID.

Except that is now a P-40E, so does not count.
