My favourite memory is seeing Spitfire TB863 in person for the first time in 2001, which was also my first proper airshow. I was to start high school the following week so Dad sprung for Gold Passes for the two of us and we stayed in (I think) Featherston. After growing up watching videos and reading books/magazines featuring the Spitfire it was magical to finally see her in the flesh. Mind you, introducing myself to Sir Tim and having a chat after Dad's encouragement is a very close second. Then there's sharing the 2013 show with the woman who became my wife...
I was absolutely crushed not to see the B-52 in 2019 (my boss gave me the day off especially for it) so it would be wonderful to have that lifelong goal realised. That said - as in 2019 - seeing the TVAL DH.4 perform would be a real highlight.

Yes those motor gliders were terrific, and the crew members were a really fun gang too, who made a lot of friends at the last show. Sadly they cannot come back for this year's one despite wanting to, but maybe next time.

Have planned to go to this airshow before and the weather wasn't favourable but have spent a couple of hours in the TVAL hangar admiring the aircraft there. Unfortunately most of these great aircraft I have yet to see in the air. Maybe this time.

Liked! The 2013 show with the Mosquito and jet formations, the 2001 show with the airfield attack by RNZAF A-4's and any time Keith Skilling displayed the Corsair are all among many highlights for me. What I'd really like to see this year won't happen, but I'll settle for more WW2 and jet warbirds

Favourite memory is the TVAL displays from the last edition - there seemed to be a limitless supply of WW1 kites, one after another they just kept on sowing machining their way out of the TVAL hangar. I’m looking forward to great weather and calm conditions so we can see more of the same this time.

WOW ..... never had the opportunity to date - what better reason for winning a Double Pass! If it flys there are no downsides!

My favourite memories of shows past would have to be the Fire Service racing into action to extinguish the grass fires. It is amazing the number of different ways the show committee have of starting them! Usually it is the Warbirds finale, but one year it was the RNZAF Skyhawks mock airfield attack. The ground theatre re-enactors were called on one year, and they even used the DH Vampire engine start to ignite one! This year I am looking forward to seeing a display by Keith Skilling's WACO YMF. I wonder if he will start with the traditional "Skilling Opening Pass"

I'm looking at making the pilgrimage from Dunedin to Masterton in my motorhome, staying for a bit and catching the Omaka show on the way home

Two shows ago I was invited by my ex-neighbour to sit on their Loyd carrier and do a lap with them - along the back of the field during the display. Being 'just' below the Al Deere spitty at the end of it's run as well as the jets. Camera in hand, grabbing all I could from this unique position. So damn cool... despite the sweltering heat. Looking forward to getting back there (I hope)

Dave Evans has contacted me to say that unfortunately he is unable to attend on that day now, and he asked me to redraw so someone else can have the double pass. We did a second random (and totally not rigged, thank you, John!) draw from the big pool of names, and believe it or not the winner drawn is Zac Yates. Congratulations Zac.
