mcmaster...I really appreciate the comments. It was certainly not the easiest job I have done - not that it is a job - but I was truly aware of the need to get it right. Just wish I could have done it better...Next 100th will be easier !

Col, A very nice package awaited me on the front doorstep this morning. A copy of Armageddon and Okra together with a copy of Aircraft of the RAAF all wrapped up securely with the compliments of Air Commodore John Meier from RAAF H & H. Doubtless this wonderful gift has a great deal to do with your 'discussions' with RAAF H & H following our exchange in the pages of this thread. Very many thanks for that. I have just started on Armageddon.........

Ando, Making sure those who deserve reward and recognition get it. On a side note, as mentioned previously in this thread, for the Centenary of the RAAF the RAAF reformed No.100 Squadron RAAF as their History and Heritage Squadron. An auspicious Squadron number for an auspicius event. By chance, purely, the synchronicity which I have found dotted throughout my life, a recent event brought to light a little bit of No.100 Squadron RAAF's history. A dear, elderly, ex-RAF WW2 friend of mine, recently had his wife of many years pass away. He shared with me a tribute to his late wife that revealed that her late father had been the Adjutant of No.100 Squadron RAAF during WW2, in particular during their time in Milne Bay and Tadji. What's more, the family held a photo album from his time with the RAAF and No.100 Squadron RAAF. Arrangements are now in hand to get that photo album passed from the safekeeping of the family into the safekeeping of the RAAF. S/L A E Root RAAF, Adjutant No.100 Squadron RAAF 1942-3. Example of just one of the photos from the album attached. S:L A E Root RAAF 100 Sqdn by Colin Ford, on Flickr

It would be great if you could post the rest of the photos here before the album disappears into an archive, never to be seen again.

Gentlemen, I have spoken with the donor of the album to get his okay, and have attached below a curated selecton of some of the photos from the album. These give an idea of the range of subjects and material covered. The album includes copies of photos ranging in size from about 1 1/2" x 2" to larger 6"x4", but most are small prints about 3" square. They cover a range of day to day scenes of daily Squadron life in and around Milne Bay. The Flickr title tags give an idea of the subjects. A fortuitous find.

Wonderful......to think just how many albums like this are still in existence but hidden away or worse still, all of the ones that have been thrown out when their owners pass away and the younger generation does not know or appreciate their historical worth.

Happy days. Picked up a copy of Aircraft of the RAAF at Big W ($35) which on first impressions looks a quality piece of work. Certainly weighty and smells good too. Also got in the mail one of the limited edition 100y medallions. I got the Mirage III one which celebrates a story of the "Miracle" holding its own in DACT with a Tomcat during a 1976 exercise Kangaroo II. airforceshop.com.au/air-force-100-limited-edition-medallions/

As of yesterday 1 May 2021, RAAF has put up on YouTube as a part of their Centenary activity, a series of short profiles of all the current RAAF 'active' air bases. Each profile gives a quick overview of the history of the air base, then an overview of its current status, units hosted and aircraft types. Worth a look if you are interested as they include a lot of historic footage.
(If you watch all the videos in this series, you will find the backing music track a bit of either a put off or ear worm after repeated listening.)
