Hawaii is one of my regular hangouts - got a lot of friends that have helicopter companies up there. This shoot was with Don Shearer and Wayne Temple and the team from Windward Aviation. They do a bunch of utility work on the islands. On this day I was shooting Pete up in the crater of Haleakala as they spot sprayed some invasive plants and then went and shot Don and Wayne as they used pellet guns to target the miconia plants which are destroying the Maui watershed. Guests from the Ritz Carlton and other VVIP hotels can pay up to $6K or so to sponsor a flight and ride along with the crews as they save the watershed. Pretty cool concept developed with the University of Maui. Got to shoot in some pretty cool locations around Maui. Mind you nothing is really tough when hanging in Maui - Aloha WWD 00203 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 00575 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 00828 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 00838 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 00898 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 01765 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 02190 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 02342 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 02652 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 03038 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 03590 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr WWD 03825 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr

Fantastic photos Ned, I get the impression Hawaii gives one the opportunity for some spectacular backdrops. Those rotor discs, WOW!
