Those that know me know I have been doing this air to air stuff for a year or three Thought I would create a thread showcasing some of the images I have shot over the decades including both air to air and on the ground. Used to do a lot of air to air of the fast jets before moving onto the rotary wing world. However a new project we have launching will have me back doing a lot more general military aviation stuff so thought I might as well post a few here. Will try and caption most of them. 117949037_10219345401811278_7081717508652788778_n by Ned Dawson, on Flickr This was from a shoot with NSAWC which became the new home of Topgun. 117770946_10219345398451194_2817961836019789050_n by Ned Dawson, on Flickr The EF111 or Spark Vark as it was commonly called was a good aircraft to work with. 117746411_10219345398931206_5608843029411295221_n by Ned Dawson, on Flickr Did many shoots over the years with the South African Air Force - this was one of their Cheetah Ds on our way back to Louis Trichardt AFB after a shoot.

One way of looking at it is that I'm familiar with your work. The other way is that I've grown up seeing and reading it since I was about ten! What a fascinating selection and I'd love to see more!

Also am resizing all pics to 1000 pixels wide as should make it easier to view on the thread.

Few years ago I flew with good mate Geoff Brown who was then CO of 3 Sqn RAAF - they had F-15s from the Dirty Dozen visiting them from Japan. We thought it would be great to do a shoot of the F-15s and F/A-18s over downtown Sydney. Got the permissions in place and a few days later off we went. Went down the coast of NSW from Williamtown to Sydney and did a few tight circuits over the top of the Opera House. Got some cool pics and also a lot of phone calls to the Wing Commander LOL. Seems someone also got a pic from the top of the Harbour Bridge and showed us at eye level with them on one turn - oops. 32591723157_720dc08c4a_o by Ned Dawson, on Flickr 33324026468_b21b4df6b1_o by Ned Dawson, on Flickr 33614576038_41a2f63fd6_o by Ned Dawson, on Flickr 40525302573_73be256916_o by Ned Dawson, on Flickr 47426323792_5d8a1cf058_o by Ned Dawson, on Flickr

Fantastic Ned. Was blown away by these when I first saw them and still are! Amazingly diverse portfolio. That A4 formation shot in cloud one of my faves and the 3 squadron RAAF Hornet shots with Eagles over Sydney and Williamtown also. What was the best and worst cockpit to take shots from?

That was actually coming in to land at Ohakea. We were away for a bit and when we arrived back the weather had turned crap.
The F4 was prob the worst, most of the modern fighters like the F-16, F-18 were all great to shoot from.

Another uber cool shoot was flying with the Kansas City Jayhawks - they were flying the Rockwell B1. Dallas who was the DO of the Sqn and also the Chief Instructor was able to get approval for me to actually fly in the front left seat of the B1 while he was in the co-pilot seat. Never thought that would happen but got some great photos both as we tanked off the KC135 over Colorado. We took off as a two ship and went out over Kansas and then around Pikes Peak in Colorado low level and then back to Kansas City. Even did a max performance climb as you can see here. Also got some great shots as the second B1 was in formation with us - even though technically he shouldnt have been that close LOL - they are one BIG aircraft. 33614575958_44904ab6cd_o by Ned Dawson, on Flickr 32549284967_c35b586b1f_o by Ned Dawson, on Flickr 40568132113_8179757f20_o by Ned Dawson, on Flickr 46458280004_72b371ca7f_o by Ned Dawson, on Flickr Aussie 472 by Ned Dawson, on Flickr
