I feel sick to the stomach reading the news that the CAF Gulf Wing B-17 Texas Raiders has collided at the Wings Over Dallas airshow with a P-63 King Cobra and both exploded and are destroyed. So, so sad.

Some highly disturbing footage is coming out. Don't look if you are sensitive.

What a horrific sight for all those at the airshow! From what I observed the impact separated the wings from the fuselage of the B17, not a chance of survival for all in the two aircraft

That is absolutely horrible. RIP to all the crews. Haven't heard anything about injuries on the ground so hopefully no one else was hurt.

An indescribable tragedy and something that just should not happen. The loss of life is an absolute tragedy along with the loss of a precious aircraft. I feel a very careful revisitation of airshow ops and procedures will ensue.
Keep ‘em flying . Keep ‘em safe !

Well said Mr Mac.
A terrible accident that beggars belief. It’s been awful to see so many videos circulating of these poor people’s deaths.

Indescribably tragic loss of life, particularly for our community of passionate aviators. The footage bombarding social media platforms and the internet at large is very disturbing. Please don't watch or share this out of respect to those whose lives were lost and their families 🙏

Ordinarily I would not share videos like the ones above, but this is such an extraordinary event that people need to see it to comprehend what happened, and I believe it is important that those who fly formation need to see it to learn lessons from it. I am sure those who tragically died would want their fellow pilots to learn lessons from their sad demise. I meant absolutely no disrespect to those who perished. I also figured that if I did not share it, someone else would. And I made it clear that anyone opening this page should not view the footage if they're sensitive.

I just wonder if it would be the same had this been at a New Zealand or Australian event.
The NTSB held a briefing a short time ago:

At least the tendency for everything these days to be video and photo recorded will give the accident investigators plenty to work through. It should make it fairly easy for them to reconstruct and determine why the P-63 pilot seemingly didn't see the B-17, but how they ended up in their respective positions that lead to the collision will be the big question I suppose.

What I think Zac is getting at is that the NTSB actually gives interim progress update statements as they do their investigation. In New Zealand, TAIC / CAA say absolutely nothing for the 2-3 years it takes to complete the investigation, which of course feeds speculation and rumours. I can understand both positions, but having even an interim statement at least helps make people more aware of potential hazards.
