I think buying NH90s for the Navy would be a bad idea, not because there is anything wrong with the NH90 but because if there ends up being a fleetwide grounding due to some issue that may arise in future that is both the RNZAF and Navy without helicopters, and down to just the less capable A109 fleet. The Seahawk or the Wildcat would be better options imho.

They must be close. Twitter has started sending me Leonardo ads for Wildcats, in the clear hope that I'll enjoy the lease and want to make things permanent. I am of course in charge of Naval Helicopter Procurement.
