It was rolling in at 2am the day you took those photos Colin. Hamilton was covered, and the fog was literally rolling towards Auckland from the Waikato and from the Manukau Heads. Looked nice in the moonlight. That must have been a nice sight Joe. Bit hard to get photos? Some more from today at Ardmore. Quite a busy sunny day with a few queues at take off time. Colin

Oh my, those are gorgeous shots Colin. The sun was obviously in a great place to show off the aircraft and conrast them against the dark clouds. Nice!

I had planned on taking my 4yo son to MOTAT this wknd, but instead (in view of the great weather) I took him to Ardmore this afternoon. In 90 minutes from 3pm we managed to see (airborne and of interest): Catalina, Beaver, MX2, Tiger Moth, Pitts, Nanchang, 2 x Yak, Trojan, 2 x Chipmunk, and probably a few others that have slipped my mind already. Not a bad haul, and heaps to see on the ground as usual on a Sunday.

I'll bet your son loved every minute of it too. I reckon Ardmore is one of the really special places in the aviation world, so much to see and so easy to see in terms of the welcoming open attitude of most of the people there who're so keen to share their hobby/interests with others.

Great photos Colin. Always nice to see what's going on at Ardmore as I haven't been able to get out there as often as I used too. At the moment, I could quite happily chuck in the glamour (yeah right) of the telly industry and settle down doing exactly what is being done in the last 3 photos Cheers, Stu.

Great shots. Does anyone know much about what that Coast Gaurd Cessna does? Do they have pilots on standby at all times, or is it just aeroclub pilots man it on a roster like say volunteer ambulance crews? And is it used just to search for boats/survivors etc? Or does it have air droppable rafts, etc?

Any ag aircraft still at Ardmore?.... Not sure and haven't seen any in a while. Some Ag helicopters with spray booms sometimes. Colin

Yes it was very nice to see, but rather concerning as we were very keen to get out again ASAP to avoid having to spend a night there. As for photos, we were actually a bit busy at that stage and I have a bad habit of not carrying a camera when I fly, not to mention it was dark. I wonder how a dash mounted camera would work in a night mode with such a slow shutter speed? Would it be still enough with the vibration etc for the picture to come out clearly?

Nice shots Alex. What is happening with the Taifun? Engine maintenance or engine change? I know it's for sale right now, I hoipoe it finds a home within NZ.
