Hi everyone,
I am off to the Temora Aviation Museum's flying days this weekend, and was wondering if anyone has any requests for specific photos they'd like to see? I can't make promises, but I will certainly try my best to get the pictures you request.
Apparently, Col Pay is bringing his P-40 along on Saturday for a short visit, which will be great to see because of it's RNZAF heritage.
The NSW weather report is looking a little bad at this stage, but here's hoping that it'll be fine on Saturday and Sunday at Temora.

Some photos of the P-40 would indeed be nice.

Canberras (the plane - not sure about the place... ) are nice - see if the Temora one is flying (fingers crossed over the weather) and I bet Dave wants some pics of the Hudson ! if the weather plays ball it should be great - hope you have a good time. Keep your eye open for any classic lightplanes as well - the sort that just turn up from out of the bush over there - theres often some interesting gems amongst them. we await your pics with great interest.

Yep, I am certainly looking forward to seeing NZ3094 - even though she's wearing the 'wrong' colours. Unfortunately, Canberra-the-bomber will not be flying this weekend as it's undergoing its annual inspection at the moment. As for Canberra-the-city, well what can I say; even the Prime Minister won't live here because he prefers Sydney! I'll keep my eyes peeled for any other interesting stuff too.

Where is Alan Arthur's new P-40 based? Any chance the two ex-RNZAF examples in Australia may be seen together in the near future?

John Howard doesn't live in Canberra because he's a snivelling little turd that prefers to waste our tax payers money travelling between the two places and wants the better view. aside from that, he isn't liked in Canberra anyway. Plus he's too short to be noticed with the other politicians around. I've heard the words Anal retentive mentioned.
But on a positive note :-) I'll be there Saturday. So if you want to catch me, I'll be ummm... Arround ;-)

I'm not sure where Alan's P-40 will be based: Glenn do you have any ideas?

Yep, if you could crate up "OUR" spitfire and send it back that would be great.

Alan Arthur is apparently from Deniliquin, NSW (near the Victorian border).
As for the Spitfire TB-863: that won't be flying this weekend as I don't think it's even here yet. First flying days that it will be performing at in Temora are on 4th and 5th August.
Plus, I can't afford to post it back to you anyway! ;D

Plus, I can't afford to post it back to you anyway! ;D Just a small piece at a time would do, that way it spread the cost over time.

That isnt as far fetched as it may seem, aparently some RNZAF chaps in the pacific in WW2 wanted an Allison engine for a powerboat back home. These engines were too precious to the RNZAF to obtain one from them, but a few beers obtained an engine they could hack from a USAAF Airacobra (which looked airworthy at the time). The regular C60 and C47 flights back home had some large heavy parcels for the next few months..... I wonder where the engine went - could it have been Len Southward who had an Allison in his record breaking "Redhead"?

I don't think Sir Len was in the Islands. His business of wire extrusion was what made him a millionaire, and all because the war came along. Prior to the war it was just ticking over. I believe he was running the business in NZ, not away in the forces.

Well no P40 for Temora this weekend. But we did get to see the P51 Mustang. Although Saturday was a wash out. The Farmers are estatic, I feel sorry for the Ashburton guys who flew across again only to be washed out. They did the same thing last June too when both dasy were washed out. Poor Bugga's. weather in Canberra looks good today, so hopefully some flying happened. Anyway, Friday gave some good sunset opportunity.

What a stunning shot!
You must have set several hundred acres of hillside bush alight to get that effect...

It looks like a great shot but is only a tiny thumbnail. Do you have a bigger version? Thanks

Well that works if you click on the right part.
Basically once you have it in Photobucket, just copy and paste the link which is the bottom of the three links under the photo
It should have img tags
