Is that a dedeicated RAAF Hornet aerobatic team? No two are breaking off to do a mock attack on a pretend target on the airfield and the other pair follow. The F-111 with its terrain following radar did a fly over first gathering info and passing it on to the Hornets for the attack. An impressive demo of these aircraft in action and considering the age of the F-111 it is still a valuable fighting machine. Colin

The Hornet team is sort of unofficial, and they are apparently referred to as the "Green Lemons"! At Temora last August the team was christened "The Stingers" by the kids there, after a competition was run to find a name for the team. This photo from Avalon is interesting because the Hornet has "Flt Lt J M Easthope" painted under the windscreen, but I don't know if he was actually flying it at the time. Did anyone catch the names of the members of the team by any chance? As to the CT-4F, from what I read on the board in front of it, Raytheon/PAC are pitching it to a requirement for a new trainer for the RAAF.

You'd think PAC would have their new product on their website, wouldn't you?
So is the RAAF to buy new trainers? Or is it a case of they want them to tell the civilian contractors to buy them?

Dave, I knew you'd ask the difficult questions. ;D
I wasn't able to work out if the CT-4F was supposed to be a replacement for the RAAF PC-9 or for the BAe Systems CT-4Bs. I was hoping Calum might be able to answer that question?

Some awesome shots coming through from many forumites, great to see. I have a couple more too. Hornets breaking off to land. F-15 sequence shot in better light Sunday. F-15 taxing in on Friday. Colin

Beautiful shots there Colin: the heat shimmer and the light on the upper surfaces of the Eagle look fantastic. Just the kind of shot I wish I could nail! I'm glad you enjoyed your time over here, and I hope you've manged to get all the dust out of your clothes after Friday's dustbowl experience. I couldn't wait to get into the shower on Friday night.

I agree, the F15 shot is poster material, awesome! The Hawk is a very interesting looking aircraft now days, lots of hanging-on bits and pieces. Not as aesthetic as the original Hawk, but it is an aircraft with a mission I suppose.

Thanks for the F-15 comments, very encouraging. Couple of shots of the jet powered glider and it appears to have started life with a prop engine? www.airliners.net/open.file/0324309/L/The two little jets put out 45lbs of thrust each and look similar/same as some featured here on a powered glider strapped to an adventurer's back a while ago? Wow, those are stunning pyro shots.
I note that Classic Fighters is having a night display on Friday of a WWI ground offensive. I guess it will include flares and pyros. That should make for some good photos for those with good cameras.

brilliant shots. Just wondering how rare it is these days to see a F15 without the conformal tanks and attachments. Did they not modify all air frames and there is still quite a few originals
