barnsey, On that first parallel approach photo: Wot if there is a crosswind blowing turbulence from leading aircraft back into your approach path? What kind of separation would be in effect then, apart from the sideways separation. OR are your approaches so rough it doan matter? ;D

Great Shots Barnsey.....I take it you didn't let those diddily diddily wee fella's beat you to the terminal....autobrake 1 till the highspeed turnoff? We call those Shamrock fellas Aer Fungus at every opportunity How often do you do the SFO run? and more importantly, is the crew hotel any good? (I know of a few good watering holes in the Presidio)

is This photo from one of these Flights: Squadron Standard laid to rest and the official disbandment parade complete the final task remaining for the pilots of No 75 Squadron was the ferrying of their redundant aircraft to storage at RNZAF Base Woodbourne. This task was completed over the two-day period 17th and 18th December 2001. NZ 6202 17 December Wing Commander Osbourne NZ 6201 17 December Flying Officer P Logue NZ 6216 18 December Wing Commander Osbourne NZ 6213 18 December Flight Lieutenant P Barnes Notes : NZ 6255 (Flight Lieutenant P Barnes) acted as ferry pilot for the flight on 17 December. Would've been on October 16 after delivering NZ6204.
I did four sectors on the December 17th in 6255 going down to pick up the delivery pilots. First OH-WB-OH took 36 minutes of flight time, and the second 1.0 hr. 18 minutes door to door in the morning run and the highest we got was 1500ft as I popped up to go through initial at Ohakea - not too bad!
Oz and I were picked up by a 42 Sqn Kingair to get back to Ohakea on Dec 18th. First and only ride in a Kingair.

Phil, it must be quite something to know that you flew the last sortie of the very historic No. 75 Squadron, closing about 85 years of history.

Only from looking at the airliners.net link. It looks like it was in the Rome train station foyer. The large steel I-beam from its mounting is still inside it, as is a lot of rubbish and small lizards.

I managed a trip to San Francisco that happened to coincide with the annual Fleet Week airshow. There were military displays by a MV-22 Osprey, the Canadian Snowbirds, the West Coast F-16 display aircraft, and the Blue Angels. I managed to conclusively prove that a digital pocket camera with whole 3x zoom is NOT a good aviation camera!! Bring on the Canon 40D... For me, I enjoyed the Snowbirds display more than the Blue Angels. The Snowbird's display was a lot tighter and had dynamic formation changes in front of the crowd, while the Blue Angels followed a repetitive format of 4 ship formation pass followed by the snchro pair doing an oppostion pass, with large gaps in the display while the formation changed out of view and reset for the next pass. Don't get me wrong, flying formation with 2 foot separation isn't easy, but the format didn't really change and meant the display took 45 mins. Again all from a personal view point!! L-39 display team Snow Birds Blue Angels C-130 "Fat Albert" At least I was able to see it all for free!!

I was in San Fran for work and saw the display on Saturday. Was good to see something different and for FREEEEEEE! But I also found the Blue Angels went on a bit too long and there were huge gaps. I thought the Virgin America A320 was a real suprise! I wonder if the switch boards got a few calls after that. Local drunk weirdos provided some light entertainment as well!

Obviously, Mike Shreeve's photos are only better because of his equipment... Ha! There was some serious "my lens is bigger than yours envy" around where I was sitting, and that wasn't even in the "serious" photographers area. One day I'll stump up the cash, but first to retain my job thanks the Financial Tsunami (as our managers are describing it - they had to think of a term worse than Fuel Crisis!!)

barnsey, did you happen to get any shots showing The Patriots (L39 team) using their synchronised smoke patterns? I saw them a week earlier, and failed to get any clear examples.
On the point of equipment, I was a bit frustrated after being at WOW 2006 with a 28-105 P&S. I'm almost over this, now that I have a D80 and 70-300 VR (=105-450mm).
I agree with the comments about the Blue Angels display gaps.

What no Thunderbirds? ;D Geez they must have huge gaps also. ;D Yeah yeah I know it is policy for the USAF & USN teams not to fly at the same venue. 'GAP' is a department store like 'OLD NAVY' is it not?
