As I sit here reading the latest bits on the forum the sound of a Merlin behind me gets my attention and I swing around on my chair and there outside is Doug heading out over Papakura! Gotta go!
Cheers

From comments today on the location of the Spitfire MH367, it will remain at Ardmore. At present its having little things completed from Avspecs. Then going to a hangar 'just around the corner'. So it will be situated on that side of Ardmore airfield from then on.

I drove to ardmore before work to get a peek at the spitfire, and sure enough 100m from the gate it takes off (just like the last one did) . luckily enough there was a runway change so I got a good look at him during his landing. I met Colin and daemon, and proceeded to drain my camera battery so by the time I got to he warbirds hangar I was only able to take a couple of shots. still, a very nice plane to see and hear

In the two seat Spitfire is the front cockpit further forward than the single seat version?

In the two seat Spitfire is the front cockpit further forward than the single seat version? Yes, I think it's about 12 inches further forward. PeterA should be able to confirm this.

"Advance throttle to full power and roll smoothly over the chocks". Great shot, I can almost hear it (Homer-esque drool) ;D Please let it be flying tomorrow. Cheers, Stu.

Very nice indeed Damon, and it proves the point that size doesn't matter (when it comes to cameras, seeing your one under your arm next to all the long lenses in Colin's photo). Your shots are excellent.
Does it have that nice Spitfire smell when you're inside it?
By te way I looked at that TV3 News link a few pages back today when I got onto a broadband connection. What a superb news article, very nicely filmed and put together, and very interesting too. Well done to the reporter and crew.

Thanks Dave. My first pictures showing the Spitfire in primer.Mainly, the camo. scheme did not change. The main fuselage was repainted ,but under wings just the roundels (star) were changed.
The cockpit smell was different to others, not quite the same.Still had character although!! However the last Spitfire I sat in was OFMC's MH434 at Duxford after its practice display flight the day before the 2003 autumn airshow.Nigel Lamb showing me about the cockpit. Quite an occation.

So, now you know what a brand new Spitfire smells like too then.
