Anyone wishing to bring an F-111 from the USA to New Zealand would have a power of hurt dealing with the US State Department about exporting military equipment. I'd be extremely surprised if it happened. Even if it was just the cockpit? Because thinking about it some more I reckon it was just the cockpit and maybe one or two other parts.

I've seen a few mentions around the place about the owner of Auckland's rooftop MiG-21 also importing a PZL TS-11 Iskra trainer. Has anyone heard anything about this? I swear I saw a photo on Facebook lately with the rego N902BB, which according to Aerial Visuals was a US-based machine cancelled in 2018 and apparently vanished. Is there an Iskra in NZ that's somehow passed us by?

Fellow WONZ member Ian Bissett came across it whilst we were plane spotting in different parts of Auckland.

Corsair Wreck rumour: Around about 2016, just as I was getting into visiting plane wreck sites and had visited my first, NZ3031 via Geocache Wayfinding. I meet some fellow geocachers, I mentioned that we had just visited a Kittyhawk crash in Wainuiomata and enquired if they knew of any other Cache sites that lead to plane wrecks, they said they'd been to a cache near a pine plantation with a swamp and that a Corsair wreck was nearby (They specifically said Corsair) that had hit a tree and crashed. I was excited by this and searched the Cache list afterwards but found nothing (I was 12 at the time and had little idea what types of wrecks were out there or that rumours involving swamps were a thing)
However I did find a Cache near Oxford NZ2124 which sort of matches their description, the beginning of the track is swampy with a pine plantation...but the story still has stuck with me, making me wonder were they got it from, if they'd said 'uh a um SpItFirE' I would have known it was lazy recall on their part.
Mossie Rumour?? (Idk it might be common knowledge?) You know what, thinking of it I have an older friend who worked at NAC as groundcrew and later (or maybe before, I cannot remember) was in crash fire service, I vaguely recall some interesting stories from him, one he said was three abandoned Mossies visible on the approach to Palmerston North when on a train in the 1950s. maybe those are already well known?

Probably the Rolfe ones at Milson - NZ2381/ZK-BCT, NZ2385/ZK-BCW and NZ2387/ZK-BCY

Was talking with a mate this evening at Ardmore who, in 2019, saw what looked like a Bell P-39 Airacobra - green with no distinguishing markings - on the back of a truck heading south near Nelson. This guy knows enough about warbirds to be sure it wasn’t a P-63 and is a very reliable source who knows his stuff. He said it was uncovered on the truck.
As far as I know there have been but two Airacobras in NZ - the example at MOTAT way back when, and Jerry Yagen’s restored by Pioneer. Has anyone heard about this?

One of the film prop P-39 replicas that was used in Australia a few years ago perhaps? I seem to recall there were several (three?) made for a US production made in Australia, set at Guadalcanal, but I cannot remember if it was The Pacific or another film/TV series.

Does anyone know anything about the aircraft parts that were located on that concrete pad In the paddock where the Bristol Freighter used to be at Ardmore? I remember when I was younger, my dad and I would wander into the paddock and look at the Bristol Freighter when it was there and I remember one time looking underneath one of the black covers and seeing what my dad thought was a Harvard. I used to get sad seeing the Bristol rotting away there, and was really glad when it went off to the UK to be restored to museum condition

It was so many years ago now, unfortunately I can not clearly remember. I am still fairly certain there we fuselage's under there too.

I'm pretty certain all of the parts in the storage area at the back were more Bristol Freighter parts. There were some engines etc which might have looked like a Harvard perhaps?

They must have been Bristol Freighter parts then. Deffinately some rather big radial engines under there. I thought I remembered some fuselags's too but it has been many years.
