Nice shots there Joe, what camera do you use? Re AMY I saw it when I went flying last Sunday it left to the west later returning from the Darfield area. It may have been doing some training at the new airfield that the Southern DC3 Trust has near Darfield. The strip is about 2 kilometres long and had a smooth and hard surface according to the Trust chairman Dave Horsburgh.

Thanks Barry. That strip sounds ideal. I use a Canon EOS 400D for the serious stuff around Wellington. The B1900D shots were taken on a Canon Powershot A750 IS, which I carry with me in the aeroplane, hence many of my 'away photos' are from that camera.

Great shots, Joe.
Those QANTAS 737s have clocked up some hours.

Nice photos, that ATR deice job makes me feel cold. Beagle, VAB is Vincent Aviation's machine, it has departed since the repaint as an air ambulance in Queensland somewhere. No work for it in the current climate here I guess.

ZK-WIK at New Plymouth, not sure what this is but it intrigued me. Has 'MRC01 Clubsport' on the tail.

RNZAF B757 just wondering what it is. There seems to be some panel open, just under the aft most door. Not an APU inlet is it. Toilet outlet door

Beags, I think you might be right, as I'm sure I saw an APU inlet like that on a V Australia B777 that was at Avalon this year when I was walking around under it.

Beagle, I have an idea that is where the RAT (Ram Air Turbine) drops down into the airflow from. There is a door marked the same on the Boeing 777s that fly into CHC in the same general area so it is possibly this. Cheers Bazza

I'm pretty sure the door at the back is the Outflow Valve for the pressurisation system. The valve is normally fully open on the ground, except for takeoff where it'll close to slightly pressurise the cabin to stop pressurisation whoosh on liftoff.

ZK-WIK lives at Parakai. It's the sales demonstrator and personal transport for Leading Edge Aviation (the agents for Dyn'Aero). It gets around the country on demonstration flights as well as joyrides. They tell me that it rips along at about 145kts (on a 100hp Rotax!). Next time I go up to visit I'll get Bryn to take me for a ride and see what it really does... www.parakaiairfield.co.nz/DynAero.htm
