It surely isnt practical to paint that, and wrapping in stick on Vinyl adds weight and creates maintenance issues. I guess its based on the fabric patterns used in modern uniforms, but scaled up its a bit silly! (and a real pain for model makers! )

Walter Extra 330LC ZS-EXE ex Aussie VH-LXV 9 Nov 2014 near Rand Airport. This pic was shot out of a Cherokee 180 .. so it was a bit of a challenge to get a head on shot

I guess its based on the fabric patterns used in modern uniforms, but scaled up its a bit silly! (and a real pain for model makers! ) That camoflage is referred to as "digital disruption pattern" and is actually very effective - it breaks up the outline of the object at a distance which makes it difficult for the human eye to determine what exactly it is seeing. It isn't very effective at close range obviously, but it's a bit less reliant than traditional camouflage on the aircraft/vehicle/soldier etc. being in front of a similar coloured and textured background!
