We are a happy to launch a couple of NZ aviation tours for November, great time to travel without the crowds and discover everything we have here. Travel with a bunch of fellow enthusiasts and share stories & memories, have a bit of fun with a group. We are keen to hear of anything else around the country that might be of interest that we can put on our NZ Aviation Map, particularly private collections & projects that can be shown if owners are willing. If we can't fit it in this year we may be able to include in future tours when the borders are open and international vistors are coming back. We'd love to be supporting all aspects of NZ aviation where possible. Also keen to hear any feedback at all including costs. We have priced for a comfortable tour with good central hotels but interested to know if people would prefer a budget option. South Island - 11 days Blenheim to Invercargill departing 13th November North Island - 14 days Auckland Roundtrip departing 23rd November - hopefully including 2 flying days! See www.aviationtoursnz.com for itineraries

Hiya There are two patterns on the website "help" page www.poppyflight.co.nz/HelpI am hoping to have as many as possible ready to sell at Tauranga airshow on 18th January so any ready for this date would be very welcome. Flights are going well and around half are organized thanks to all of you. We would like a few aircraft doing each sector so if you see one already booked do still get in touch as you can be part of the team and we have both the poppy and star to carry. Cheers Mel

The Poppy Flight – we need your help with flights & knitting! This is a major fundraiser bringing together remembrance and hope for the future. With school and community involvement, will encourage our children to remember those who fought for our freedom, many of whom who paid the ultimate price, and encourage them to think about returned servicemen who need our help and support now. It will also encourage them to think about and support, children and their families who are dealing with illness and challenges we can only imagine. Our collective fundraising will help the RSA and Starship Foundation continue to provide the care needed in many areas. The Poppy Flight will also help keep our aviation history alive through the NZ Warbirds Association, without whom the flight would not be possible. At the moment we are building up a team of volunteers, initially pilots and aircraft that will fly a knitted poppy and star around the country in the run up to ANZAC Day. How can you help? For each flight sector we will need 1. Scheduled flight team One 2. Accompanying flight team Two 3. Back up drivers in case of bad weather There are plenty of other ways you can help. Can anyone knit or crochet? If not please ask around. We will be needing thousands of poppies and stars to sell at Wanaka Airshow. Also we will need heaps of people to help with the activities at each destination where there will be a welcome party. You can see all the details on the website www.poppyflight.co.nzThanks for your support Mel

Flying Legends is fantastic and as someone mentioned there is lots for the kids to look at and you can walk the flight line and get quite close. The finale with 20+ aircraft is pretty amazing too. We take a group every year but sadly are not going this year due to low numbers. If you take up the advice for Gold Passes I have 20 spare now that I am happy to let go for $60 each instead of face value $85. Gold Pass is sold out for Saturday. Enjoy it!

Hiya Any one keen to share tips & settings for getting the best shots with limited equipment? I have an Cannon EOS 1100D. Photography is not my profession, escorting tours to airshows is, so I have great opportunities but I would like to be able to share some better pictures. I found a few tips by googling but they seem brief.
ISO 100-400, F8, 1/160 prop blur, 1/800 jets, fast jets 1/1000
When I try to get prop blur the photos are always over exposed. Is there some more essential equipment I need? Thanks for any advice. Mel Aviation Tours NZ

Great that you are coming, we'll look forward to spending some of the day with you. Just get your ticket online when they are available. They don't sell out that quickly. That's going to be a very long day though. Its a couple of hours from Ramsgate minimum and then traffic into the site maybe half an hour. Do you want to give me a ring for a chat? There is lots of aviation stuff to see in Kent if you can fit anything in, my number is on the website www.aviationtoursnz.com

If anyone is going to Legends and wants to hook up with our group for the day on Sunday you are welcome. We will be staying at the Gonville Hotel and if you can get there in the morning we will be happy to take you on our coach and drop you off. Or you can use the free airshow shuttle from Cambridge station. We have Gold Passes and always do. We think the money is well spent because there is shelter in the marquee if it is too hot or rains, private access to the flight line and seating (not grandstand). We will be at RIAT on the Saturday so again if anyone is staying in Chelmsford and wants transport, let me know. Happy to help if you have any other questions too, we have taken our groups for the last 8 years.
