25C here, nice weather apart from a mid morning shower of 20 mins, warm inside or in shelter but get out into the wind and it's really cold. So not surprised there's snow down south.

If Wellington has snow I guess it's true, "Hell will freeze over before Donald Trump ever becomes President"...

There is another pretty intense low going to hit the south island on Saturday night/ Sunday morning, more wild summer weather!

Well rather different to back home at this time of year, minus God knows what but definitely brass monkeys right now, but the Northern Lights are doing their thing which never fails to put a smile on the old dial!

In Wairarapa, we've been getting a few intense rain storms in the Tararua Ranges over the past few weeks. It has been fine in the valley where the towns are, but the rivers have been in full-on bank-to-bank flood at times. It's really weird when you get a nice, sunny day, but floodwaters surging down the rivers, including washing out the approaches to one bridge on SH53 between Featherston and Martinborough the other day.

And it hasn't been much better in Sydney. Car OAT gauge read 40C at Cronulla on the beach yesterday afternoon and where I am at Sutherland now doing notes for Masterton yesterday it was showing at 45C at the local Primary School notice board. Think it is rising through 30C as we speak even after last night's "Cool Change". Expecting a bit more of a change tonight and maybe some rain !!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo Love to jump in that river at Masterton

The only problem with rivers in Masterton is that they tend to have dairy farms upriver.
So if you like swimming amongst what oozes through the ground into the rivers from the cows, then fine.
Most of us prefer to stay out of those rivers and only swim in them where they emerge from the ranges and before they flow past dairy farms.

Looks like ex tropical cyclone Debbie is heading SE in the direction on NZ, there are actually two decent systems heading to NZ right now, batten down the hatches folks! It is dumping rain on us in the Tasman rright now, with more to come by the looks. A friend recently sent me this great site showing wind patterns around the globe, amazing! earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-208.97,-23.14,1095

Severe Thunderstorm warning northern and eastern Auckland Fun! We might dodge the worst of this batch. Partner's work have suggested their consultants work from home tomorrow if practical

I find this quite extraordinary. I was on NZ8808 leaving Christchurch soon after NZ5788 to Tauranga last night. Landed at Tauranga okay but flight took about 2 hours 20 mins rather than 1 hour 50 mins.

Not enough crew hours to get back to CHC if they went to TRG? BTW, this was the frigid hell of Auckland on Saturday morning. Hauraki Gulf Island by Errol Cavit, on Flickr
