I may be with you earlier, Errol, if my planned Hamilton Fletcher rendezvous isn't a goer.
Looking forward to a great weekend!

Don't think we will have time but will keep it as a backup activity if something changes. Also whats a good shopping mall on the southern side of Auckland?

Westfield Manukau City is close to the motorway, and has all the normal places. Papakura is more spread out. Sylvia Park is further north, but close to motorway, focus on clothing.

An update over the availability of ZK-DAK for 0800 FLY DC3 for the forum meet is looking less likely this weekend due to maintenance on her at Hamilton that was taking longer than expected and I think the weather held them up on some tasks.
Jessica was saying that the engineers are there from Ardmore and they are fitting the props today, but before she becomes commercial again, there is more work or there are more checks to be signed off that means she is unlikely at this stage to be approved or fit for paid flight on Sunday. My second recent journey to Ardmore and she was unavailable last time too - a lack of a Captain and crew! Anyway, there will be more chances in the future. Many apologies on their behalf.
The Warbirds Assn still have several planes available for flights. Contact Jenni on their phone No Thursday when she is at work again.

Sorry to hear DAK won't be around but I'm sure we'll be kept entertained by what will be there. I hope the work isn't too strenuous or expensive!
EDIT - I may have misunderstood...she will be on-field, but not available for flights?

Yes ZK-DAK will be there, probably parked up outside. Assuming they are permitted to fly north from HN. Which reminds me, I have an essay of photos of ZK-APK at Mangaweka taken recently to upload to Flikr and then share... Oh, the weather, something else to put a dampner on the day - lets hope it passes quicker than shown on MetVuw metvuw.com/forecast/forecast1.php?type=rain®ion=nz&tim=108

Weather passing quickly... yes and no. I have a photo-shoot on Saturday (instead of going to Te Kowhai ) so wx passing Sat night, done by Sun morning works for me!

If by chance there is bad weather the event will still carry on as planned except for the flights. The Spitfire flights will have to be postponed and people will be notified of when in case they can make it to the alternate date too. But in the meantime let's think positive and hope for a nice sunny day like today!!

This posted just now on Fly DC-3's Facebook:
"The DC3 is finally back home at Ardmore - thanks to Brooke and Yvonne Mackley, Mike Smith and Geoff Cooper. No flying this Sunday 28th September however, as there are a few 'back at home' items that need attending to after being away 3 months. The pilots, cabin crew and despatch crew have completed their Annual Technical Training exams last weekend, so we are 'ready' to get back into the sky again!"

I'll bring our sunny disposition from Christchurch Just sorting out a few things ready for the trip, hoping an Auster exhaust muffler will fit in my suitcase to fly home........otherwise will have to use the old Baz charm and see if I can carry it on! Shame about the DC3 but she needs looking after at her age!

Have a great time you lot. I wish I could be there but I have been away too much of late and this weekend is my first one at home for quite a while. Looking forward to hearing all about it on here.

Thanks Don.
PS: Note to self - never arrange another forum meet in spring time if there's flying involved...

Also to those coming, don't forget to bring a fold up chair if you can so we have enough seats in the hangar. Cheers (Chairs!)
