I have decided to move Gavin's post to this thread and to remove the old thread on posting with Photobucket, considering we are no longer encouraging anyone to use that company's services.
For those who use Flickr please feel free to create a new tutorial thread on how to use that I can can sticky it, as that seems to be the one that people are turning to. I don't use it so have no idea.

I have used Flickr for goodness knows how long, and have persisted through changes in ownership, changes in login procedure, forced integration of Yahoo/Google/whatever accounts, forced password changes, accidental account duplication while trying to retrieve changed password, running out of Free capacity (since increased) and having to upgrade to a paid account, their attempts to deny URL capture (to discourage 3rd party posting), their eventual back-down in that respect, and multiple changes in interface and user-friendliness ... frustrating as hell (like so many big US tech companies with no concept of customer service or satisfaction), but thank heavens, at least all my old photos are still there.
Who knows if it will stay that way? Photobucket has just committed commercial suicide I would think, but you wouldn't put it past another greedy corporate to try the same thing with Flickr.

I'm confused. I have used PB for posting all my images here - only have a free account. All my images linked from here to there disappeared about two weeks ago, like everyone else was experiencing. I began downloading all my images from PB to my computer with a view to posting on my new Flickr account. I haven't got that far yet because when I raised some old threads to check which images I had used I found they were all back!! What's going on? For example: rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/16571/zk-ckx-submarine-cessna Can you see these images?

Weird! They were an hour ago, I checked three threads 5 times... They weren't there yesterday. Oh well, will continue the update to the new host. Cheers

The weird thing is that if you have a paid PhotoBucket acoount, you can still see all of the photographs posted by everybody who used a free PhotoBucket account to host their images.
If I log out of PhotoBucket, then everybody's photographs from free accounts vanish. As soon as I log back in again, I can once again see those photographs.
My current paid subscription to PhotoBucket runs out in early January and I have the option to renew it for a further year at the basic rate I have and still 3rd-party host images, but at the end of that year, all bets are off unless they either change their policy, or I upgrade to the really expensive option, which there is NO WAY I'm going to do. I also have a separate free PhotoBucket account, and I would imagine most of the images from that account are no longer 3rd-party hosting, although I can still see them while I am logged-in to my paid account, but not when I am not logged into it.
However, there is no guarantee that any other free service such as Flickr is going to remain free indefinitely. So we could be going through all this bullshit again at some point in the future.
I'm guessing that what happened with PhotoBucket is that it became too popular to the point they were eventually losing money, forcing them to act. If everybody who had free PhotoBucket accounts migrates to Flickr, they are probably going to end up in the same situation eventually.

Hey guys , as Dave says how about a tutorial for us infirmed gold card holders !! Good guide at UK Airshow Review forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=47WONZ forum software is fine with photos larger than the 1600 limit at UKAR, although there is rarely good reason to share to the forum anything bigger than that. Flickr itself will accept larger sizes (as well as videos), I don't know what the limit is.

This man deserves a gold medal - just tried this it appears to give me access to the old photobucket piccies.
If photobucket wake up to this, what are the odds they will try to block the access.

Here's hoping they transferred to another provider before they deleted their pb account.
I must say that I have found flickr easy to use.
