Hi Guys Well thought I should snap some quickees of my Corsair now its finished. Not overly happy with the rigging as it looks a bit thick, dosent look as bad in the flesh but comes up chunky in the photos. Does anyone know if you can get fishing line thinner than 5lb? Cheers Anthony

I have just read through the thread from start to finish and not only enjoyed it but am very impressed with the model. Inspirational to say the least. I agree with the comments about the 'knowall' fraternity at competitions but enter anyway as it is the best chance for me to compare my models with the rest of the world and learn from the exposure.
I find lycra thread very good for rigging and being elastic it has a tolerance to the odd whoops moments when handling models. Generally it is made up of about three strands which I seperate out to a single thread. It also glues very well with cynoacrelate [superglue] so is easy to work with.
I am looking forward to the next Corsair!

Thanks guys, I was hoping to take it to the Nats in Wellington but have come down really crook. This bug going around has finally caught up with me! My wee 3 yr old passed it on to my wife from Kindy and I thought I was too tough to catch it..........................wrong!
I appreciate your feedback very much and I like the lycra thread idea, I think I will take a closer look at my wifes pantyhose!!!!(modelling uses of course!)
Once again cheers guys, comments like that encourage me to share my work and hopefully help anyone who needs it.

Well Anthony, I think we all here would like to give it a First Place ribbon. Sorry to hear that it won't be at the Nats. Other modellers there though must be exhalling a collective "Phew!!"
By the way, did you see my post for you in the Fletcher "Kiwi Work Horses" thread?

Hi Dave
Just checked the post on the Fletcher. That is great news about finding the plans. Is there any chance I can somehow get a copy from them?
Still keen to do a scratchbuild of one sometime.
Thanks for taking the effort to find them, it is much appreciated
Cheers

No problem. I will copy them sometime in the next week. Bear in mind there are no section drawings, but this is a start and as I say I'm certain they came from Pat, so will be 100% accurate I hope, as he was the designer.

Anthony, what a wonderful job you have done with that Corsair! I'm trying not to let my love of the mighty Corsair cloud my judgement, but I have to say that is one of the best Corsair kits I have seen built. Get well soon, mate.

Excellent model and pictures. Just the sort of result to give me the motivation to dig all the unassembled 1:48th kitsets out of the garage

Can't get enough of this model. No matter what angle you take photos from of your Corsair Anthony, she is a beauty.

If Dave has a 2007 Post Awards thing again, then this has to be the model winner.

Thanks guys
You know.......I get more satisfaction showing you guys my work and explaining how I did things than entering any show. Thanks for the kind remarks, I find it very motivating!
Dont ever underestimate the encouragement I get from all the other models being built on here, were all having fun and exchanging ideas.
Cheers
Anthony(figuring out how to make some bits for my Miles Hawk)

Good Day gentlemen I Know this a 5 year old thread however I have surfed into this thread looking for model info on (KIWI) sorry RNZAF Corsairs so imagine my delight at the sights i beheld. The above posts have stolen all the superlatives i would have used so i will content myself with Outstanding !!! I hope the chap that built the model is still on this forum as i would like to thank him for inspiring me to greater efforts I am getting a bit long in the tooth to match your work Anthony but if i do 25% of what you have done i will be happy well done good luck and take care

Hi there Mike!
Thank you very much. I got a surprise to see this thread pop up again. I appreciate your comments. I was just looking at it in my cabinet again....there was a lot of work in that kit.
I am sure you can do what I have done. It was not really difficult, just time consuming.
Please post your progress here I would love to see another Kiwi Corsair. If I can be any help whatsoever then it would be a pleasure.
Cheers and thanks again Anthony

I was just wondering... Did the propellor blades of our Corsairs have "Hamilton Standard" decals on them? That FG-1D model looks superb! Wish I had the patience to make one!
