What will be her Total Time Airframe? Seen it mentioned a bit over 22,000 hrs.

Basically a cockpit shell, IIRC correctly there was TV mounted just outside the windscreen with HUD data etc. Don Simms would be the likely one to have any info or photos.

There were trainers for the Skyhawks, called Hotshots. Very basic flight sim but you could practice weapons system use etc.

CAA would be right along to fine them for obstructing a runway.......yeah right.

If the RAAF don't take up the option I would think they'll keep the Supers and Growlers.

A few that stand out to me...... Final colour scheme at the last flight would be all green, not green, khaki and brown. Woodburne is spelt Woodbourne. Would be very unusual for a flight sergeant to be out on the flightline, more likely a Corporal or at that time a civvy contractor. Flight sergeant would be inside doing the crossword ;-) A-4K came with steerable nosewheels. In a Skyhawk you don't pull your calves back against the seat for ejection, you make sure your legs are straight out and on the rudder pedals, tucking them back will create a gap under your thighs and you'll break both legs when the seat goes up. You have to trust your legs will be flicked back in as the seat goes, has been proven to work. Canopy doesn't shatter, the whole canopy and frame is jettisoned before the seat fires. Parachute doesn't pull the pilot from the seat, a small rocket (nicknamed the ear burner) rotates the seat away.
Not my area of expertise but I did spend some time on start crews and I'm pretty sure hydraulic pressure was driven by the engine, it was one of the checks after start up the flightline guys did, there is a small gauge in the wheel wells. So the bit about showing pressure to the pilot before he gets in seems wrong to me but someone else will know that for sure. What was shown were the 5 pylon/rack pins, these were stowed while the walk around happened and then the 3 gear pins were pulled and stowed after engine start.
Hope that helps.

I did the artwork to turn it into a cut-able stencil and also the tail markings, email sent with what I have. I don't have the full paint scheme drawing though. Maybe try posting in the modelling section? Les.

I have the RNZAF paint and stencil drawings, once I find them I'll chuck you a PM. Les you don't have the Euro 1 A-4 /TA-4 ones by any chance do you? No, I do have the SEA scheme original drawings though.

I seem to recall a P-3 painting boo boo too. When they did the first low-vis paint scheme. They either got the markings paint and the airframe paint swapped over or they did the finish wrong (flat instead of gloss). I can't remember (I'm well over 40 so that's acceptable!). Lasted a week or two before the whole plane was rubbed back with Scotchbrite. I seem to recall Pam (small S&S female) being involved in the Scotchbrite process. Do you remember that one Dave? Would be mid 90's?? The first low vis grey P-3 was deliberately painted matt grey, lasted about a year before they realised corrosion and cleanliness was an issue with salt water operations. It was rubbed back over a few days then and repainted gloss grey one long weekend in early 96? The boo boo was the 4 tins of marking colour was mixed up first and applied to one wing, before the next batch was mixed and noted to be lighter in colour. Thats when the error was realised and corrected on subsequent coats.

When repainting P3 prop tips the fronts were always worn worse than the rear faces. Air travels over both surfaces.

From a budget article:
Defence gets $1.77b which may surprise many. Most of that (898m) is contingent capital funding for C-130J Super Hercules airplanes – but Cabinet is yet to approve a business case. Ron Mark said “progressing the procurement of the C-130J Super Hercules continues to be my highest priority as Minister of Defence.”

The US has only just started clearing the missile for P8s. Expected to be completed in 2026, so actually 2033.

What ever it is it was the same colour when it was the MV Edda Fonn, so either a sacrificial thing for rubs and bangs, or maybe something techy like radar?

Currently Western Australia is cut off by road from the rest of the country, all roads in/out in southern areas are affected by bushfires and up north by cyclone. Via the 2Sqn page I've seen the amount of the area around the Shoalhaven that has been burnt and it's just really hard to imagine.
