The G must be real for sure, we use the same mask/helmet at work and if we fitted one so it slid down like this under G we'd rightfully have our butt kicked, the top of the mask should be up by the bridge of the nose, this is going to hurt after a short while. Capture by Leslie Stockley, on Flickr

Well they have yet to implement some of the recommendations from the CoI so they should probably get on with that, 9 years should have been long enough.

Old mate in the middle of the group must be going for the world record for biggest sleeve patch ever flown.

Don't know about RAN but there were definitely RAAF pilots on exchange on A-4's.

Painted a few of them back in the day, RAF Blue Grey rings a bell and looks right to me on websites - BS381C:633, overall colour of FAA’s Sea King HAS.5, Sea King HAS.2 and Wasp HAS.1 anti-submarine helicopters. hataka-hobby.com/products/raf-blue-grey-bs381c633/An email to the RNZAF museum would help confirm.

The most unsual NZDF towing incident is the LAV towing a u/s US cobra in Afghanistan. We used an Army Pinzgauer and tie down chains to tow a Seasprite out of a rabbit hole at Wanaka while a very nervous maintenance flight commander watched on.

Off the top of my head RC clubs that fly on airfields or within very close proximity are in Auckland, Mercer, Matamata, Tokoroa, Taupo, Palmerston North, and there's bound to be more in the south. There are rules that govern it and normally user agreements with other airfield users to avoid conflict. Also model aircraft ops are listed in the airfield charts with likely areas and heights. To add to brads list above we've had GA and microlights land on a runway when closed by white crosses, when asked they didn't know what they meant.

Probably brings them under military airworthiness authority rather than CAsA?

How about NZ6211? I thought Murray Neilson had attempted to eject before the aircraft impacted the ground but was outside the envelope. Can anyone confirm that? I can confirm ejection was not initiated.

I'm sure barnsey or someone here has written about the experience of passing the barrier in a Skyhawk somewhere. That would be an interesting read if anyone knows where it is? Step 1 - take all tanks and pylons off an A-4. Step 2 - get really high. Step 3 - roll over and point nose down vertical at full throttle, wait. Step 4 - pull out of dive, go home.

Found this Cobi outfit a wee while ago, ordered a little something for Santa to bring along. Finished model is about 42cm span, purchased from Ebay and landed in Aus for about AUS$65. 12,000 m2 of hangar, office and workshop is pretty much what the sqn has now at Whenuapai. There's no room for F15's in that equation.

How big a chopper can that heli pad take? From the ship specs in the pdf Helicopter deck designed for Super Puma (9,3 tons). Helideck designed and equipped in accordance with relevant authorities from Norway, Denmark, United Kingdom and Netherland. Seasprie max takeoff is 6120kg The deck is almost enough for an NH90.

I still reckon they should be purchasing six airframes to replace six airframes. Dollars to donuts we end up leasing a couple of ATR-72 type turboprops for a lot of the low and dirty surveillance and SAR missions. I can't imagine the Air Force brass would want to wear out there expensive airliner airframes by flying too low more often than they have to. I see this as a recurring theme here and on 'news' sites, why does everyone assume the P-8 isn't capable down low, everything I've read says its fine and in fact more comfortable due to the wing flexing providing a smoother ride. It's also a strengthened wing, no where near the same as the standard airliner version.

Interesting, how will the RAAF Hornets transit there? Is it possible they will come through New Zealand? Also, will they leave the aircraft there afterwards, as I understand the RCAF has purchased them? Does NATO have it's own Air Force these days? Hornets will prob use air to air refuelling with RAAF A330's, won't leave any behind, saw article the other day first 2 of 12 to go to Canada in middle of 2019.
