Just another normal go-around. Go out to Ardmore and see that sort of thing happeneing several times in any one day. Mind you, at least this time they didn't mention the passengers screaming. Or say that it plummeted upwards.

Awesome pics Colin. Do you have special access to the airport grounds or are all your spots open to the public? I always thought the closest we were allowed to get was the viewing platforms.

Thanks for that link Colin. Do all unusual flights, such as this and military flights fall under sky care?

I wonder what type of stress was put on that airframe for the show and if we'll get a discount for that one due to shortened airframe life.

The 1 x C-130H and the C-130J-30 are USAF the other, (Cammo) C-130H is RAAF. I also have 1 x USAF, 1 x RCAF and 1 x RAAF C-17 I have suggested that Gemini Jets, the company which makes the majority of the military airlift planes make the following. RNZAF B757 RNZAF C-130 RAAF E-7 RAAF KC-30 RAAF C-130J-30 USN P-8 Airbus / Any air force A400. We'll see what they come up with, they are apparently preparing for another military release under the GeminiMACS brand, but who knows when or if they will do any of these.

I know what you mean, I have serious space issues, so 1:400 is good for that, I saw some 1:200 and they are nice, very nice, I would have liked very much to have walked out with the 1:200 A380 and the nice RAAF C-17 also in 1:200.
I look forward to your pics.

Hi all. I have posted some pictures of my Air New Zealand fleet in 1:400 scale in the 787-9 thread. I said I would start a dedicated thread here for anyone to show or talk about collecting. As I'm sure most of you are aware, it is addictive. Although there are two stores in NZ that I know of who specialize in selling these models, and I do like to support New Zealand business where I can, I typically get my models from the USA and Australia, this is fr several reason, mainly because these bigger overseas stores have in stock the aircraft I want and also price, currently, the same models are between NZ$15 and NZ$20 cheaper (Including conversion and shipping) to buy from either Waffle Collectibles based in the USA and Australian Aviation Center based in Aussie. There are also a few very helpful forums dedicated to this type of collecting Diecast Aircraft .com and Wings900.com seem to be the more popular forums. Anyway here are a few pics of my 1:400 die-cast metal fleet. Air New Zealand Boeing 787-9 ZK-NZE Air New Zealand Boeing 777-300ER ZK-OKM and ZK-OKO (ZK-OKR is on preorder) Air New Zealand Boeing 747-400 ZK-NBV Air New Zealand Boeing 737-300 ZK-NGM and Air New Zealand / Mount Cook ATR-72-600 ZK-MVB A fleet shot of my collection. If there are any models you would like to see individual pictures of let me know and please feel free to add your collections to this thread, I'm sure we have a few collectors among us. Jason

I paied NZ$59.95 including shipping from a shop in Australia, I could of paid $90 for it if I bought it from a shop in Rotorua (The one linked to above), or there is one for $80 if I got it from the shop here in Auckland, but I find I save about NZ$20 including shipping if I get them from Australia or the USA. This is my Air New Zealand fleet as of tonight, I should be getting ZK-OKR, the newest ANZ 777-300ER in the new white and black scheme in a few weeks All are die cast metal and all are 1:400 scale, so the 747-400 is about the size of my hand. I don't want to hijack this thread anymore but if anyone is interested I can start a thread on these models in the modeling section, right now I have 15 of these models, this includes C-17's and C-130's as well as some more commercial airliners all in metal and all 1:400 scale.

Thanks for the info all. Why would a plane come up as something else? In this case a Bell 427?

Hi all.
Last night, around 2130 I was taking a look at FR24.com and I saw something strange.
Around Tauranga, there was a Bell 427 helicopter at 41000 feet and 530+ knots.
I very much doubt that any helicopter can get to 41k ft and achieve a level speed of 530+ kts.
Has anyone here ever seen something like that before and do you know what it could have been? If we had fighters I would have thought it could have been that, but I don't know what it could have been and why it showed up as a Bell 427.

I've just gotten into collecting 1/400 scale die cast metal airliners and that has lead me to a greater appreciation for these things.
The detail is astounding in these little models and then to see and photograph the real thing is awesome, the two hobbies go very well together.

Hi all.
I was wondering how long the Air New Zealand 777-300ER's will carry their special schemes for. The one with the dragon and then I think there are one or two others waring Hobit schemes as well.
How long do they wear them for and how much longer with the wear them?
Also the All blacks scheme, will that one eventually revert to the standard / new colors or will they keep one aircraft of each type in all black?
Is there a site where I can find these answers or track the current schemes?
Thanks Jason
