Awesome pic, every time I'm near Hawker Pacific they get panicky and tell me no pictures, they don't like me at all with a camera near their place.

I think I have some pics from that one, IIRC there was also a Sea sprite and a Huey there and the Sea sprite had an AGM 64 missile there which arrived in the back ofa white van.
I remember a stunningly low pass or two from an Air New Zealand 747-400 and I thin a Hercules was in attendance as well. I'll try to scan my pics in this weekend and post them here.

I'm not too sure if it was a break lock or just the tires gripping the runway surface, I don't recall seeing any of the Cessna doing that those, the Spit seemed fine though.

I think I agree, the Spit pics, numbers 6, 7 and 8 are my favorites.

Good, at least no one was hurt.
Can't believe how different it looked from the range and angle I saw it, I could ID it as a plane at all other than a wing, this and the fact I saw it was burnt and the odd canopy open and twisted / melted made it look like wreckage.

My parents saw it coming over their house, they said what got their attention was that it was spluttering and sounded to be having engine problems, my mom even commented that she hoped it would make it to the airfield because it really sounded bad, she said it looked like a small plane, like a glider prop hybrid, that is what I could recognize from the burnt wreckage (At least it looked partially burnt but was not readily recognizable as a plane.

I've just got back from Ardmore and saw two fire trucks and two police cars around the wreckage of what looked to be a light plane on or near the 21 threshold of 03 / 21, ATIS said the airfield is closed and any traffic returning was taking 03 Grass.
I hope everyone is okay.

Hi all, after seeing the below videos on YouTube and reading some awesome reviews I couldn't help myself and I ended up getting this. The A2A Cessna 172, the real sounds in this thing and the pref light and hangar features bring back very find memories of my time at Ardmore flying school

A question I've wondered about for a while and slightly off topic here, why do helicopters with retractable gear have the gear extended when conducting sling loads? I've noticed in a few pics of oversea operators when sling loading either cargo or people and regardless of the height, they always seem to get the gear down.
