Someone has posted on the FB page that "the Warbirds will be Brendon Deere's spitfire the avenger and a Harvard (nz1037) and also air Force historic flight Harvard".
Will be interesting to see what is formally announced.

I see the FB page indicates that "we [will] also have warbirds flying too". No detail about what warbirds will be in attendance.

DHW remains disassembled at Dairy Flat and is currently for sale. It was commonly called the Dunsfold taxi while in BAe service.

Thanks for the suggestion (and to Anthony for inquiring on the Key forum).
I have emailed composites international for information.

Hi Anthony. Unfortunately NZ 1821 is now just a cockpit section and will never see the air again. The cockpit is being mounted on a trailer and I had hoped to get it to the Air Tattoo, but it won't be ready.
Thanks for the Key forum suggestion. I had thought about that but shipping a canopy from the UK won't be cheap, hence hoping to find something here or in Australia.
By the way, great work on the Auster rebuild. I have been interested to follow its progress over the years. Cheers

Subsequent to ZK-UDO ex NZ1821's accident at Ohakea, all useable parts were removed and the hulk was to go to scrap. The battered cockpit section was then saved, dry stored, and is now more than 70% tidied up. Due to the damage sustained, it will never be 100% original but at least it now has a nose!
The aim is to return it to a 1960s RNZAF fitout, painted in a unique scheme only worn by NZ1821. Photos of the paint scheme can be found on this form
Ninety percent or more of the internals have been collected, with a new canopy being the major missing item. Any leads on a canopy would be most welcome!
Many thanks to Scrooge and others for the fantastic support of this project.

Page 628 of the same volumes lists 48 seperate camps or facilities built by the PWD expressly for US forces

Hi all, have you seen the book 'Defending New Zealand; Ramparts on the sea' by Peter Cooke. This 2 volume set covers this sort of material.
In relation to Warkworth, it lists a brigade camp, with a total of 41 encampments within a 5 mile radious, built specifically by the PWD at a cost of £191,029 and covering 1714 buildings (page 627).
A quick scan doesn't reveal any facilities built specifically for the US forces in Hamilton or Cambridge, but I wonder if the Claudelands camp may have hosted US forces?
Cheers

Email request sent to Osbournes funeral directors to pass my contact details to Bernice's living relatives, so waiting to see what emerges from that.

Checked out the death notice option. Bernice was survived by daughters, and the notice doesn't give their married surname. Searching their first names + Sweet doesn't give anything. The next best line of inquiry for this option will be talking to the Osbourne funeral directors, in Rotorua. That will need to wait until next week.

For another option, it looks like the funeral notice for Bernice Sweet can be purchased at nzherald.co.nz. This would likely give the names of living descendants as at 2011. Then we could use white pages to track down some possible phone numbers?

Hi all
After some googling and a phone call, I have located a surviving relative in Otago. She believes that the medal belongs to her grandfathers brother, and is very keen to make contact.
Rone, I will send you a PM shortly.
Sounds like we might have a successful end to this story!
Cheers

NZ3601 and 3602 were noted at Whenuapai yesterday along with a number of the SH-2G(I) models.
The Minister's press release in December 2014 (see page 1 of this thread) also provides an indication of the staggered departure of the SH-2G(NZ) airframes to Peru.
Cheers

I think you will find that Stan Smith at Dairy Flat has a Miles Messenger and a Gemini.

Can I venture a suggestion; that we have a Forum meet at MOTAT one day and spend some time Seeing and hearing about the great work done by MOTAT. I for one would be a keen starter.
