I have not read the thread through It might be a good idea to do so ;D You would learn, for example; That Traffic Management was not the fault of the RNZAF The cockeyed decision to cancel the AL Spitfire display but allow Hoons in a Holden/Falcons to perform was done by the show committee [whoever] who were clearly on something very mind-bending an illegal. Likewise the two Hueys dropping "accidently" red and blue cars was childish and dated beyond belief! Did I say the RNZAF were responsible ? That fact is that it was a complete stuff up for a large proportion of those who attempted to attend , why else are they giving refunds and why else did they stop charging at the gate . They started the show on time knowing that less than 10% of the expected crowd had actually made it inside according to an earlier post . It was only at about midday that they started to organise traffic flow from what I saw .

Craig, I think it's a combination of average roads and people leaving it a bit later than they should to get to Ohakea. At Wanaka the air show programme starts at 10am and the gates open at 7:30am and that's the sort of lead in time required for a big airshow. Unfortunately, the average 'once in a while' airshow goers don't realise this, hence the jam I suspect. Maybe those fortunate enough to be at Ohakea today can let us know when the gates opened on the base. The fault would appear to be with the organisers who were not having the gates open till 8am .

I have not read the thread through but I cannot believe there are not some really peed off punters out there , really glad I did not buy a ticket before hand . We left Palmerston North at 8am , arrived at the start of the queue on that rise just south of Sanson , stayed with the car till we had followed the diversion down the side road just south of Ohakea . Left the others with the car halfway down that road and walked following the signs from there , arrived at the gate at 1pm , the car arriving 15 mins later . Very poor planning by the organisers .

The Aussies have had an engine fail and their Squadies keep punching holes in the floor with their rifles .

Maybe the Omaka airport is a different place to the airfield I visit whenever I am in the area . As well as the Aviation Heritage Centre which is world class there are all sorts of treasures to be found , the substancial remains of a P40 , an airworthy Fleet biplane , the skeletal remains of an Aeronca recovered from near the South Pole , a Fairchild Argus restoration project , at least one Yak 3 replica being restored to airworthy condition and maybe two , at least two Nieuport WW1 type replicas . I was under the impression that a South African also had three aircraft there including a FW190 and Sopwith Pup replicas . Maybe they have all moved on ?

Not sure if this is the correct place for this question but , I have just looked at my photos from Masterton , and in a photo of the BE2a the underside of the fuselage appears to be a colour darker than the clear doped linen sides , is the underside made of wood ? Ply ? Or is it also linen but dirty than the sides ?

Thanks for the help , any idea what the interior colours might be ? As the A109 is on the list any colour calls on them would also be useful .

It looks like the same grey as the Iroquois, FS26118. Which is closest Humbrol 123 , 125 or 176 ?

On further investigation it appears that the only areas that need work are the engine side covers. The exhausts have more parts that look like they finish the job looking like what we can see from photos . The photos available on this site are very informative . Anyone got any colours for ours ?

I have got my hands on the 1/72 Revell NH90 and I am interested in peoples opinions and hints on turning this into one of our new aircraft . The kit I have is the NH90 TTH . The areas I can see straight off being different are the two main exhausts and the engine side intakes . Our aircraft appear to have exhausts which vent directly up and have a different shape and detail to those in the kit .There are intakes on the engines sides on our aircraft which do not appear to be included in the kit . the kit maybe based on an early prototype . To my eye the two cabin windows on each side appear to be taller and thinner in reality than on the kit . Overall it looks like a nice kit .

I have just noticed on the Ventura decal sheet No V7278 that the roundels for the fuselage for NZ1076 are not handed which would seem to indicate that one faces the wrong way , anyone care to comment ?

I believe there are still issues to be resolved before we see them here . I was told the floor have not stood up to well to simulated operational use , squaddies rifles damage them easily ( new plywood overlays ) , and there have been engine problems too .

Hi Everyone, I need some research help. Would anyone have any info on 149 Squadron's missions in Bomber Command especially ín the year of 1943, or any other interesting facts? Cheers. Could you provide more information , why in particular 1943 ? I have some books that might help but if you could narrow the search that could save time and effort .
