Apparently they're trying to minimise 'boots-on-the-ground' due COVID risk. However they're also discussing evacuating the smaller outer islands that have been flattened, so there will be some contact if that happens.

looking at the track, they would be very close to having covered enough distance to be the equivalent of the length of the country.

Indeed, it does seem silly in that sense. But if they didn't recover it, then the airport parking fees start ramping up and that's how you end up with derelict aircraft on airports being sold for scrap value.

It won't be a new one, they've got some spares off the first retiree (actually there will likely be one available from stores)

My powers of observation would say those photos are at different times, both time of day (refer the differing shadow) and differing time of life for the aircraft, noting the paint on the back of the propeller (1st likely to be long yellow tip on black and second black or red tip on silver/bare aluminium).

Googling the subject finds a report stating it is CGI

Thinking about it, you'd have to be pretty special to think you might be able to keep something like that quiet. Multiple participants with cameras- no chance it's not going on the net and no chance it won't be shown to someone at the respective CAA. The only option is to self report.

I don't think the Dragon shall be attending, we're all trapped in Level 3.

Dave, North Shore Aero Club have a group doing some historic record keeping so they might have more details for those shows.
From the first one I'd expect the C180 and banner towing to be Frank Pike. R22- John Clements. Mooney- Richard Neeve. C152 and deadstick aeros- Matt Wakelin. Fletcher- Dave Starr.
I have the programme from the '88 show, but not the later ones. It doesn't list any pilots either.

Standard.
As an amusing note, for a while there was a 'before and after' aircraft painting ad featuring a convair that compared the ice protection patch (before) to a clean bit of fuselage (after) that ran for some years in NZ aviation magazines/newspapers.

I think the first 'Sir' came from his Falklands participation. I understand the second was for Gulf War 1.

Signed.
Aircraft may meet the definition but sometimes the obvious needs to be spelt out to those who 'approve' the claims.

It was supposed to be a sort of gated community type of development 15-20+ something years ago. I'm not sure how far it got or if it's still going. At the time I knew who the developer was. Rhoda Morrison who holds the copyright to those 2 photos was an instructor at North Shore Aero Club and a real estate agent (I think) around that time.

When did NZ start excluding V from number plates? My parents had a car with a V in it in the 80's.

Well, it's tied down and it looks like it's fully fenced so that looks to be a 'permanent' parking spot. It appears to be as described in the 3rd to last paragraph in the article.

It's not strictly on it's own either- there are a couple in the shrubbery in front and at least one beside it
And by shrubbery- it's probably gorse
