And the article identifies the photographer of Denys's photo as D. P. Woodhall.

Dave, there are at least 4 photo's of the wreckage in Graeme Cossgroves photos. I don't have time to post them, so feel free.

The built in ’shower’ feature on the Islander was also quite novel. Due to the wing spar running over the fuselage and that join being apparently hard to fully seal, it was often the case that on first taxi or takeoff after a bit of rain the accumulated water would find it’s way into the cabin via the gaps in the ceiling liner sections. Not such an issue for row 1 (pilot + 1) or row 2, but 3 and 4 usually got most of it.

I've asked a contact at North Shore, he said he'll look over the weekend. If you get some elsewhere, please let me know.

No none, I once saw an illustration mocked up in a German (I think) airline's colours, somewhere on the internet but that was as far as it went.

I'll post some more photos of "KFC-5800" ZK-KFS later today, there are some good ones that Mike has that demonstrate the size difference over the standard CV-580 and different engines/prop combinations. Apparently both 5800 aircraft that were converted have worn the rego C-FKFS over time, this makes the aircraft histories confusing to track, 'KFS is now C-GKFS. Here is a bit of a summary of the Kelowna Flightcraft CV-5800 program, apparently only two airframes were ever produced. www.ruudleeuw.com/cv5800.htmKelowna are the Type Certificate Holder for all of the Convair Prop-liners www.kfaero.ca/maintenance-and-engineering/convair/modificationI'm pretty sure there are 6 or 7 5-6 5800 aircraft, ZK-KFS eventually migrated to Chicago I believe and now flies car parts with it's brothers and sisters. Given that ZK-KFS has serial number KFC-004, then logic would say there are at least 4 and there was at least 1 more available after ZK-KFS.

Noting the ammo boxes I had did not have the rollers and feeds off the side, but it looks like they have been removed at some stage.

Maybe, I spent a bit of time looking online at a couple of inspection stamp lists but none matched. The Lockheed stamp for P-38 parts was closest and another site showed similar for Vega.

Not as far as I recall at the moment, the discussions ended up as similar to PBY but not quite the same. I thought maybe Hudson or Ventura.

Still in NZ, I'll have a chat next time I see the owner and see if they're happy to share details. It might be a while though.

I was wondering, does anyone know what happened to the single seat Vampire that used to be owned by Sir Kenneth Hayr? The last I'd heard was a few years ago that the project was in Auckland under restoration, unless anyone else has some more up to date info? This is J-1149, ex G-SWIS Still under restoration, the owner is slowly working on it as much as time allows.

If you google ‘Graeme cossgrove’s preserved aircraft stash’ there are some photos of the recovery operation.
