Not sure if they sell them , but according to thier web site TVAL do a large range of replica guns ( think its tucked away under " projects " - " aircraft guns " , or something like that . Takes a little looking , but its there . )

The news media just can't resist using that EMERGENCY word to describe a “precautionary landing”. Was interesting to follow this on a scanner as it unfolded . Im not sure the use of the word " emergency " is totally unjustified , considering most every "emergency" service was dispatched . Pity it took them so long to find the plane and discover that it really wasnt an emergency after all . ;D Great work by the pilot for sure !

Strangely , by all acounts , it was a reasonably pleasant day here in Blenheim ( I was only 4 , so dont really remember ) . A little overcast , and not much wind at all . Having said that , southerly winds tend to blow right past cape Campbell , and not hit Blenheim , so Im picking it was a huge Southerly that did the damage .

What about the policeman who said the boy should have landed on a sports field? He's a clown! All the sports fields are short and I understand from another forum they also have obstructed approaches. ... According to the captions on the map , he travelled 250 metres AFTER going under the overpass ( at which point he would have to have been virtually at ground level - with no power ) . I agree that would be a bloody big sports field - unless its more than one ( ie , a park ). Assuming he didnt do anything too silly to provoke the incident , Id say he did pretty well

Nice shots Errol , thanks ( I assume the pic of Jurgis , with pyros in the background was just a coincidence ) ? Looking forward to shots of the " main event " !:-)

Personally I think if you have the gear , wear it . I personally have seen several motorbike riders " running in " engines that I have rebuilt , come back and say " thank goodness I had my gear on " ( obviously they had helmets , but Im talking full body armour ) . They were lulled into a false sense of security , believing that going easy on their bikes would prevent them crashing . Accidents happen ! That said , I dont really see CKE doing this

Strangly enough Shorty , I actually worked with Ron Loader when he was building the first c130 ( and he wouldnt even tell me what it was - possibly because some of the building took place at work , Shhhhh ) . Also worked for Tony Rogers son ( they dont spell Rogers with a d ) Brian . Brian ( Tonys son ) took over my place of employment from another mutal friend -- Stu Bone Small world !!!!

The flyby certainly doesnt look any worse than ones you often see before other major sporting events , such as motor racing . I would suggest they were fired for not gainging approval first , rather than their actual flying ( i.e. its not what they did , its how they did it ). Just my opinion .

In tonights paper , it says the judge issued a " reserved descion " , which it seems , means they were found not guilty based on the defence they presented ,HOWEVER the descion was reserved on a point of law , which may be questioned by either the defendant OR the prosecutor at a later date . What this means is that they can effectivly be re-arrested , and re-tried on exactly the same charge . The point of law it was reserved on was the "claim of right " ( ie , their whole defence ) ! Lets just hope the judge wanted the final descion to be made at a higher level than his ( court of appeal ), and hope they make the right choice ( re-trial )-- and verdict !

I find this just totally unbelievable !! All political arguements asside , so its now ok to go damage someones million dollar property ? Guess that precedent should help out those farmers who dont like power pylons over their property - they can now just go cut them down ( because of the health risks ) . Total spupidity at its finest !!

The lead aircraft must have beat a hasty retreat after this buzz-and-break as he cannot be seen. Might be tail-on to the viewer and receding in his turn. I checked with a magnifying glass but cannot see any hint of a third image. Whilst clearly the camera angle in both shots is the same , to me the aircraft in the second shot look a little bigger ( ie ,they seem a little closer to the camera ) suggesting the photos are not consecutive shots of the same aircraft . The bits in the foreground seem about the same size in each shot , so I dont think its a zoom thing .

I remember seeing the prototype " kahu " , with the looms fitted . I was initally astounded that all the wires werent colour coded ,but then realised that each wire had its own number , that was printed on it , all the way down its entire length . I guess that works better since there were more wires than there are colours . Cool photos

My apprentice at work loves to laugh whenever the bosses have one of " those " meetings with staff . ( You know the ones -" times are tough , no pay rises , maybe cuts " ) . Why does he laugh ?? Because it would require a change of law to reduce his wage , since he's on minium wage . I guess not much has changed in regards to youngsters earning rubbish wages . At least he see's the funny side ( and hopefully has better to look forward too )
