Or a 53L Bristol Centaurus - 2600HP - there is one on NZ and with plenty of spares, but not running yet, and it is spoken for.

It seems that earthquake engineers and civil authorities can have arguments and the respective engineers have been taken to court I believe in Italy and other places, and lost their jobs!!
Forecasters - well they tend to traditionally rely too heavily on the US GFS data and NZ is slowly managing to get the most out of their new Super Computer which gives much closer and shorter span increments in the spatial calc field for actual NZ geographic elevation profiles and vegetation and lake specifics, which can cause quite considerable differences in local micro weather patterns. They should be getting better at it and make a step leap in accuracy. In the worst case, go outside and use a wet finger... (it detects wind direction...) and look at the sky!

Yes lovely pics! Great weather for it - except too hot! Was that a Yak 3 there in several shots? I re-viewed the Vimeo video too - lovely editing and slo-mo - great in HD and full screen.

Fabulous flyby of the 747 - the last pass was lower and faster and clean! Very impressive, and a lovely way to remember them - only two passenger planes left on the fleet I think, due to be retired and replaced perhaps this year. Others can correct me as usual!!

Later on in the vid there are farming scenes from the Wairarapa - hay stacking south of Masterton - Mt Rangitumau in the distance, sheep mustering, tractor work, shearing at Pauanui Station, moving frozen carcases - possibly Waignawa freezing works, or Ngauranga Works nearer to Wgtn. Very interesting vid and of the damage to the Lodestar.

It was nice meeting Max Collett at Tauranga, he was happy to chat with a stranger because we both enjoyed the show and enjoyed discussing it! I also respected where he had been and what he had achieved. Called him Sir!

Looking forward to the next few chapters!!
A stroke can happen to any of us - the signs need to be acknowledged and it's extremely urgent to get care ASAP..
FAST is an acronym for reactions to a stroke. F is for Face and the sagging musculature and lips, A is for Arms and a lack of strength or control, S is for Speech and for slurring and incomplete words, but I forget what T was for - Telephone for help? can't recall. But speed is of the essence - ie FAST!!

Hasn't the lightning damaged one been sent back to manufacturer for a rebuild/repair? I don't think that one is operational yet.

Cloud very much higher than yesterday. Sunshine actually coming thru window of Wanaka internet café as I write. Just had 7 Yak 52 overhead as I walked downtown so they must have gotten thru that mess up north. Dare I say Anson looks and sounds spectacular That's great that so many Yaks have turned up - they put on a really good group aerobatic display. Is the Yak 3 down there or going there? Enjoy your weekend Mustang51!!

Yes I was about to edit the post as I have found further discussion on this vid (http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=94080) that indicates RC models were used as you indicate and cut and spliced into vid. Apols, as LiveLeak had it posted as Moscow 2014 but it may all be 2013 and part of the Paris Airshow routine plus amateur rc vid sequence. So the original link is here www.liveleak.com/view?i=77e_1389637750 is what fooled me - sorry guys. Thanks for the headsup nzjet.

This is crazy and similar to the Paris airshow 2013 for the style of undreamed of aerobatics. Note, part of vid has been moxed with RC. Caught me out initially, a friend shared the LiveLeak link, should have been more cautious.

Fascinating, very interesting 3D view of it all. The trouble is, they don't have enough room on the ground for all those flyers in any one region...

I was at Rathkeale College and Dad had come on the Wednesday or Thursday to Masterton to pick us (2) up early from boarding school for Easter - our second farm was flooded to the fence tops at Kahutara, and the road impassable so we had to go back around the Martinborough route across the Ruamahanga. Shifting sheep and feeding hay in the floodwaters and on our sandhills block was Friday, then on the Saturday?, we went over to Wellington to view the sad ship. Shoes and hats et al were washing up on the shore. Crowds just stood there looking on the grey day, at the stricken ship, still with a buffeting wind and swell making the sea very choppy. Sad times.

So is that $1900 a double? They said it was per person!!
Yes Western Lake is a pretty quiet backwater of South Wairarapa - a dead end with a wonderful view from said estate/lodge over-looking Lake Onoke and the Cook Strait.
