Quite pale plumage - is that a female? Lovely photos and close-up shots though, fantastic!

While I'd love to see an airworthy Tempest, I think a genuine ex-RNZAF Mosquito has more significance to NZ aviation than a Tempest II.... jp - I wasn't intending to demean the thought or value of the particular Mosquito in question - or any Mosquito for that matter, I was saddened by the fact that another similar situation exists with Eric Hertz passing and leaving the ownership of another iconic plane in a similar situation needing a financier too.
I don't believe the Tempest II ever fought actively in WWII as the Typhoon or Tempest V did. Although I believe they were still building Mosquitos after the war ended as well.
There are probably other planes in workshops in NZ also in need of benefactors to allow further progress, or, as the case of the Mosquito in question, to be able to cover the costs already incurred to reach the stage it is at.

Is there an oil blend in the priming fuel? Shouldn't need it with an inverted oil bath piston... At least the Queen made 200+ HP...

Was told at Tauranga Air Show that P-3K (01) is 49 this year. No laptop to search and backup from regional links but... and the Hugheys weren't far behind.

It did look like the Freighter was going "downhill" but thanks for the details and story! Sent from my GT-I9300T using proboards

I noticed the big sister - a DH-114 Heron, ex NAC at the Tauranga Airport. It looks a bit rough on the outside - weather and all but is clean and sparkling on the inside so photos show... four Gypsy Queen 250HP engines - still rather underpowered, used from 1953 to 1957. Pretty well all over - unassailable lead after 43 overs. Well done the Black Caps! Everyone playing their part. Good to watch.

Perhaps the Freighter had some precious cargo on board or a dignitry?
Lovely photos, a great scene - creating some good interest.

You seemed very busy editing/deleting directly on the camera! The high contrast white clouds were not helpful for good photos, and then at other times it was very dull, limiting apertures and crispness. Nice shot btw! Keith Skilling knows how to place the plane for photographers (and our viewing pleasure) without breaking the flying rules around crowds.
The DC3 ride is one I need to plan for next time... $80 for a local flight, not bad!

Oh, and have I missed something? When did this forum "centre" the text? The centering of the text happens when the Temora Warbirds Southern Spitfire - Shark teeth image is a banner at top and formatting at the end of the image line has not closed off a center command. Looks like a day or three after she "beached" ... front canopy piece by tip of R wing, no slide/skid marks in the sand, the tide might have been over it a few times as she has "settled" in a lower position in the sand, forming a washout around the fuse. Three women on the right wing, plus guy with shorts reaching into cockpit. Two kids out front. Seems like the pilot had a "safe" landing.

I would have thought there would be a need to keep the King Air as a multi engine trainer and light transport. Not a very long lead in time. Perhaps planning to use CTC for twin engine training initially and then replacement Beechcraft after that? Sent from my GT-I9300T using proboards
